My only thought is that the 12 volt setting should only be used during towing, and then immediately switch it to either Gas, or 110 volts (plug-in) when camping.

Hi: My fridge Tech said these 3 way fridges that use air bypass to remove the heat from the coils work best on Propane..."but don't expect much in the hot humid weather!!! A fan forced cooling/compressor system would work best then but those cost $$$$ Our origional Dometic RM211 in the Boler works well on 12v when towing and not bad on 110 when camped in the shade Will try the Propane next summer

The 81 Scamp we just got has the Dometic rm211. It was not cooling well the 110v heating coil was NG (open) on propane it did cool some but not nearly enough. We checked on the price of a reconditioned cooling unit after that shock i found in the links an excellent trouble shooting guide, followed the instructions and cleaned the gas jet etc: within a couple of hours i could see it was doing better so with the thermostat set around 8 i let it run overnight and checked it in the morning with the temp gun The metal tray that the ice cube tray sits on measured Minus 29*f and the far side of the box about 20*f I have ordered the new 110v heater unit about US $52oo shipped to Florida.Might have avoided the shipping charge by shopping around here but i was so pleased with the trouble shooting info they gave i really felt they earned the business. Hello Rebecca, welcome to the forum. As this is an old thread, I don't think Don will respond. There is a troubleshooting guide in the operations manual which is readily available by internet search. The guide is on the last page.
