Vintage awnings

I am looking at Marty's Vintage Awnings for my 1996 16' Scamp. Does anyone have information or tips on this product used on a Scamp. Also any tips on where to but rail and best way to install.

I would buy a bag awning over the vintage rope & pole type. We bought a rope & pole awning for our Uhaul, were not happy with the sag in it, sold it and bought a bag awning that has the rafter poles to keep it tight. Have heard that Marti makes a good awning if that's what you want.

Marti's Awnings are the cat's meow!

I hated the Fiamma Awning that came with my trailer. Not that the awning was bad or defective, I just absolutely didn't like the thing. I installed a Keder rail for a simple rope & pole awning, (which also works equally well with a slide-in bag awning, but I didn't really like those either.)

I used 1/4" X 20 stainless steel bolts with washers and nylock nuts on the inside to mount the rail, and sealed it with Sika-Flex sealant in the bolt holes when I installed them.

On my trailer, I installed the rail so that the fasteners are all hidden on the interior, which are situated inside the upper cabinets. My rail also didn't go over the door on my installation because I didn't want the awning to be rubbing on the door while opening and closing it. (Another feature I didn't like with the factory Fiamma awning.) Also, I didn't mount the rail up higher, because then you would need to bring a step ladder to reach it in order to insert the awning in the track. I can run mine in standing on the ground, but it is still high enough that I don't have to play "Quasimodo" while standing under it.

And, FWIW, if we are set up somewhere for more than a few days, I set up my Clam shelter.

Thanks for the information. I had not consider the door catching on an awning. I do like a cover over the door when it s wet for days
