Vinyl under the carpet

I am mega excited. I got out there this evening in the camper and crawled under the table and pulled back the carpet a bit to check and see IF there was vinyl under the carpet in the Bigfoot and yes there was. So I ran and got a box cutter and went to getting that mess out of the camper. So excited it's GONE! I've still got to clean the edges and get that off, but it's mostly done. Ewww that carpet was nasty. 1985 so you can imagine.

I never understood why the manufacturers would put down permanent carpeting in any trailer. I suppose they saved a few bucks by carpeting them. I personally like having vinyl flooring and a washable throw (runner) rug. Seems silly for something that you take places to wander around outside in the dirt and mud, and are then expected to come back into with muddy shoes. Just one big wall-to-wall door mat.

yeah it doesn't make any sense does it. I kept noticing all the post of Bigfoot owners saying they had vinyl under their carpet so I was like, oh please let there be vinyl under mine too. One less thing to have to do to this camper so we can finally get to go camping in it. Excited!!! yes!

I don't get it. Why is there carpet over the vinyl? A lot of Casita owners cover their carpeted floor with vinyl (I did), but the other way around makes no sense.
