Water Heater Location, 13' Scamp

Per my earlier post, I am now the owner of two Surburban 4 gallon water heaters, one for the 13' Scamp, the other for our Hunter-II. In the Scamp, are any of them installed under the left dinette seat or is the closet just aft of the entrance the location of choice? Thanks for input and any pics.

The one in my Scamp is under the rear dinette seat, curb side... side with the gray and black water valves.... opposite side of the kitchen, but same side as the sidebath.

On my 2008 Scamp 13 the water heater is located under the dinette seat on the left (drivers) side, same side as the kitchen.

Here's a picture of a 2009 13-foot Scamp with a hot water heater installed under the rear dinette seat so you can see what the door looks like on the outside.

It is not my trailer. When I was looking for a fiberglass trailer over a year ago I copied and studied pictures I found in ads on the internet to get an idea of what these trailers were all about.

I've only seen a few 13-foot Scamps with water heaters. They are more common in the 16-footers.

The water heaters seem to always be on the same side of the trailer as the sink, which makes sense.

I have a 2012 Scamp 13' bathroom model w/ the hot water heater. Mounted just as the picture shows form the outside - under the dinette seat on the drivers side.

Funny mine is located under the passenger side kitchen counter just to the right of the sink.

I am also installing a Surburban 4 gallon water heaters. I am installing it under the dinette seat. Any tricks or suggestion on mounting door and door trim flush to the rounded side of trailer.

Yes, don't mount a door on the rounded portion. The hinge will bind unless it's hinged on the side rather than top or bottom. Buy the door first. Get the smallest one you can use unless you're expecting to need to access a larger area for another reason. If you get a large (long) door, you'll need to glue wood on the inside to add ridgety (is that a word?) back to the body. There are those that have done that and we can point you to those posts. But, I believe in KISS. YMMV

I used the Style "A" door, p/n 6161A xx (Last two digits are the color) See the pic in the post above. The other flush fitting door does not easily adapt to a curved surface. I cut away about 5/8" of tin at the bottom of the heater housing and tapered that up each side about 8 inches. The Surburban heater just fits between the floor and the bottom rail of the dinette seat, you wil only need to frame in the sides of the opening. You can get lp gas by replacing the "T" in the refrigerator compartment with an "X" or "Cross" fitting and routing tubing from the extra male fitting to the heater.

Our water heater is located under sink/counter area on the passenger side. Ours is a 6 gallon Atwood.
