What best to do with unwanted items

I need advice please,

Finally getting started on reno's to our 1975 13' Boler and plan on making the bunks into a permanent seating area with table. So I have an original green bunk set up in vgc and only a small house with no where to store it. Any thoughts on the best way to go. I am loathe to part with it but feel that we will never use it again ourselves, should I sell it or keep it in case the trailer gets sold one day ?
Is it even an item that someone might want ? Lots more questions to come I'm sure.

Thanks
Susan

Susan,

I imagine the condition of your camper and quality of the renovation will impact resale far more than if you still have the bunk. People seemed pretty excited about front dinettes (but maybe i am wrong).

I'd ask myself:
1) how distant is the likely hood of it getting used again,
2) How likely is it that the item will get damaged while stored and lose value/usefulness (ripped, torn, moldy, rodents...),
3) and how much of an irritant will it become using that storage space and keeping the bunk protected?

It's possible to create a front dinette and leave the bunk/backrest in place, making it a 3-way set-up: sofa, dinette, and bunks. It works if your Boler has the porta-potty recess under the front sofa; not all do.

Something like this* might actually increase the resale value!

Thank you all so much, I do like the back still in place, had not thought of that. I am a recycler/upcycler so always struggle with getting rid of 'stuff' that's perfectly good

My next problem is that some of the seam tape has been restuck with some horrid brown glue so I have a piece about 9" long in two places with the tape still attached. I have stripped the rest of the seams and plan on filling them this week before repainting the inside. I have tried all sorts to remove it, goo gone, brake cleaner etc but it will not budge !

You can try 3M adhesive remover, available at auto parts stores. You can also try warming the glue up with a hair dryer to see it if will soften it enough to pull it off.

If you throw them away today, you will need them next week.
If you dont throw them away today, you will store them forever.

on't worry Bob the next guy will curse you and throw it all out and you won't be there to stop him, or he could be a hoarder like you.

Susan,

I am not crystal clear on what parts you have there.

When I had some extra Casita cushions on hand Jon wisely suggested that I discard the foam and keep the covers. (I ended up selling the trailer and gave the whole works to the new owners.)

My point is to ask whether there some particular hardware or part(s) that might be "important" for a future owner? That way, you could reduce how much you actually keep and store, and let the rest of it go.

If your dealing with cushions trace them on paper or take good measurements. Then remove the foam and dispose of the foam. Then fold up the covers with your measurements and put them in one of those vacuum bags and suck them flat now storage is easy. You just keep the important parts.

Get some paint brush cleaner. Found it removes hardened paint in a brush after it has laid around for a long time. Used it to remove stuff the wouldn't budge otherwise.
