Hi there! We changed out all the lights in our Teardrop to LED bulbs when we bout it in September of 2013. We did it for the electric saving. The bugs seemed to be just as attracted to the LED as the original incandescent bulbs. I tried out using a yellow lens and a red lens in the Galley (we have a double light fixture) and the bugs were attracted more to the yellow than the red. Weird but true.--We are looking for a Trillium 1300 and will be using all LEDs but not not putting a red cover on the porch light when the time comes because like has been said above the amount of light given off is seriously diminished! We've seen no difference in the number of mosquitoes with a clear vs an amber light. Other bugs like moths? Certainly a difference. At home we have seen a significant difference using our Mosquito Magnet Propane system. The thing is though, it takes a few days running before the mosquitoes in your area have been trapped and killed off, plus it's a bit bulky, so it's impractical for camping. For camping, we prefer Ben's 100% DEET repellent. A few TINY spritzes will last you all day, and it doesn't have a strong odor like some other repellents - maybe because you don't use much.

This is coming from a long time tent camper - Ben's works.

We went with amber but can't tell if it attracts more or less then clear. We don't use lights when sitting outside, the fire or candles are preferred. I like the amber as it's less harsh, almost mood lighting.

Must be a difference between a yellow bulb and the amber lens, the amber is more then adequate to navigate around the site, might not be enough to read by.

Both of our trailers came from the factory with amber.

My trailer has an amber porch light. Don't notice any reduction in bugs attracted to this light relative to a clear lens, but in all honesty we don't often use the light. We use a screen tent for outdoor dining when the bugs get too demanding.

I just installed one of these from Camping World. It is double wired with a very bright white led array and a less bright amber one. I installed it with a double rocker switch so I have the option of burning either one.

Now I'm all set to perform a highly scientific mosquito attraction test comparing the amber to the white. I'll report back with the official results.

We've often laffed about the Oregon State Bird. Those that aren't Oregonians can't understand when we say... no problems, because Slugs Don't Fly!

I have LEDs all the way around Ten Forward (honestly, four LED supplied porch lights). Sometime this year, I'll find out if clear lens Leds attract bugs (especially mosquitos) and will report back.
