I just posted this in my "1979 Scamp
16 Project Thread" but wanted to give it its on thread for better exposure to those thinking about window coverings. I have thought long and hard about them for the 12 months I've owned and have been working of my Scamp
. When it came time to do it, I found it is not very difficult at all to achieve nice results with the DIY route, even with nearly ZERO sewing or curtains/shade fabrication experience.
I do install/sell customer shutters, shades and blinds for a living (sole proprietor here), and I USE to install "soft" treatments (curtains, drapes, panels, valances etc). However I have never ordered, sold or made "soft" treatments. I suppose my experience installing them for many years did give me some sense of what goes into them- but that's it.
If you have a sewing machine YOU can make your own window coverings as well.
