2018, Aug 7,8,9 UP, Lake Linden

Lake Linden Campground, Hiltunen Street. Lake Linden, MI 49945
906-296-9911, lakelinden.net
26 sites, $25 water/electric

This will be an informal meeting. After looking at the rules we are not a “group”. Each person will register as an individual. There will be no formal host for our non-group.

Jim P will be in site 12.

It looks good, we might make it.
Is that the sewage lagoons for the town, showing on Google Maps Satellite View?

You're timing is great for a pre-Boler rally. I think many of us are waiting to secure a Boler anniversary spot. Once that happens, get ready for bookings!

I have not been able to make a reservation. Town is small. I think they must all be in FL, TX, AZ. Have tried calling and leaving a message. Then found an email address. No reply.

If anyone finds a way to contact them please post.

I'm on Site 15

I called the number on the web page during working hours, 906.296.9911, they closed at 4 pm. on Monday the March 5th. I made my reservation and will be on site 15. The phone number is the city hall building, the officer said to just pull into my reserved site and the park host will finish the registration.

Did not get a recording this morning, process was a breeze. Fred and I will be spending our time exploring. Fred has a memory of being up that way. I don’t remember. Looking forward to seeing lots of new stuff and meeting new people.

June and Jeff have reserved site 16 for 7, 8, 9, 10 August. The nice woman taking reservations grew up only about 15 miles from me. It's a small world!

POI

You might search out some of the things to do in Calumet, especially the Calumet Theatre, (hope they have a show scheduled that weekend, if not you can get a guided tour the historic building) and in Lake Linden the Saint Joseph church interior, and the Houghton Museum. Also google "things to do in the keweenaw". There's always something going on in Houghton and Hancock that time of year, google "events" in those two towns, too. Copper Harbor, up Brockway Mtn. is a must.

That is not sewage, but instead a swimming area. It is a backwater section of Torch Lake , which eventually connects to Lake Superior . I’ll be in site 12 if you have any questions on where to go & what to see. I’ve visited the Copper Country every summer for every one of my 80 years .

How far off the main highway would this be if I was heading through the UP on my way to the Winnipeg 50th rally . Was thinking to leave Detroit Saturday with stays here Saturday night and Sunday and leaving for Winnipeg on Monday. This may be a great side trip.

Lake Linden is 87 miles north of Hwy 2 if that is the route you are taking.

I am looking forward to this interesting area to explore. It should be a worthy side trip.

I will be sending you a private message.

If you leave Lake Linden park by water, you will go thru Torch Lake and Torch Bay waterway to Portage Lake. At the open water if you go to your right you will then go under the Houghton/Hancock bridge and then continue to Lake Superior. If you go to the left at Portage Lake you will then enter Keweenaw Bay. This is a waterway the cuts off this peninsula from upper Michigan. Looking forward to meeting you, I live in Lake Linden.
