2018, June 1-3: Taidnapam WAG

If you haven't already, start signing up for the Washington State Taidnapam gathering June 1-3. I noticed that several of the usual sites reserved by some of our past attendees have been taken already.....including the one we have usually reserved....so get busy. https://www.mytpu.org/tacomapower/pa...napam-park.htm

More to follow.....

Nice! I noticed that several of the usual spots had already been reserved so we may be a bit more spread out this year.

Since Spring is officially here I thought I’d bring this up to the top. Some things you might want to be considering for our Taidnapam gathering. If you don’t have any already, start looking for things of the Buffalo Plaid persuasion…..hats, shirts, socks, etc. to wear during the gathering. Be thinking about some sort of gift for the gift exchange we have. It can be something camping related or not. Be thinking about a potluck item for Saturday night. Portable tables and pop-up rain shelters can always be useful if the need arises. If you have any other suggestions or reminders, feel free to chime in.

Smile The Egg & Us

Mary & I plan on attending. Will come Thursday. Since my health isn't what it used to be, we will sign up upon arrival.

Possum, where are all the people? Come on you Washington people. Don't complain about having to drive to Oregon when you have this fun WAG right in your neighborhood. I see several of you signed up for Donna D's NOG, so I know who you are.

See the happy folks from last year!

We are going to be there and have site #276 reserved. Do we want to continue the gift exchange or not?

I say yes to the gift exchange. More on the order of pull a number out of the hat and see what you get. Bring and item, get a number. Could be a camping related item or not.....be creative!!

Want to come

Hi... I just learned about this Rally and I want to come.... need suggestions about sites... I have a 13 ft. Scamp

Trying to go to the site and register.... it won't let me... I put in the dates and my rig etc. It will not let me choose options... it does show that sites are still available. What am I doing wrong? I guess I might have to call them on Monday..

Carolyn,

Instead of trying to choose options after you choose dates, size, etc. click on the green button to the right hand side that says " sites 100-107, 200-288"- then choose your site and it should let you make your reservations. I just tested it and that was working.

Thanks..

I'll try it.. I just wish there was a diagram of where the sites are located... and also I see some in this group are in 202, 249, and 276... is that all who are coming? where is a good spot to pick so I might be reasonably near some others? my first time with the group although maybe some of the NOG people are coming??
I hope this is OK but I am going to put in a notice on my Scamp FB page...

Carolyn N.,

There is a diagram ( map) of where the sites are but no real pictures. I can't understand what you are looking at. I think you are missing a step. This is a much smaller gathering than the Oregon ones each year. Not everyone posts that they are coming either- they just show up.

Carolyn N.,

Here are some sites suggestions to help you out that I just checked and are open: #251, #255, #243, #244 and #246. That should be close to some of us at least. I am in #276 but it is an easy walk to the sites I just mentioned.

We are all in the 200-288 sites and when I looked last week there were quite a few "green spots" left on the campground map. I don't have an accurate count of who is coming but I'd say there are at least a dozen. If you still can't figure it out online, they are very helpful over the phone. Thanks for the help Deb!! Welcome Carolyn. I'll post a few more particulars in a day or so to help out with planning.

With just a few short weeks to go, here are some of my thoughts about the gathering. From past experiences at Taidnapam, I think we have a pretty good handle on what works and what doesn't but as usual, if you have any ideas other than what I'm thinking, please feel free to interject them at any time.

Friday night bring your own hot dogs to roast and beer to exchange. Bring a few of your favorite beers to trade or drink them yourself. Even wine sharing is appropriate as are paper cups to drink it from. Bring along some munchies like chips, veggies or small desert type things (chocolate preferred).
Be prepared to share your favorite camping experiences and campgrounds with the group. If you are a musician or magician, feel free to entertain us.

Saturday night potluck. Bring your favorite main dish, salad or dessert to share. After potluck gift exchange. Bring a small wrapped gift, take a number to put in the hat and see what you end up with. Gifts can be camping related or not, gag gifts are appropriate as well.

It has been suggested in the past that canine partners not be invited to the hot dog roast or potluck which seems like a reasonable request.

Stuff to bring:
Firewood for the fires
Small tables for food items
Pop-up shelters/tarps in case of the R word
Buffalo plaid clothing
Name tags
Lawn games
Lots of smiles
Lots of SUNSHINE

A reminder that unfortunately the lake levels are still very low so fishing may or may not be possible or worth the effort.
