I just had to laugh Steve. Most of the RVers at Quartzsite right now are the 'older' generation and maybe those items DO have something to do with RVing... maybe some of that stuff allows them to get out or at least go for longer trips. Great place to 'comparison' shop with everything right there.

Unfortunately I'm beginning to wonder if we will get a chance to see the moon. An area that is not known for cloudy skies all of a sudden seems to have an abundance of them.

Donna I hear you on that but you would think some of the stuff should be related to RV's. We are in the market for a nice RV sized bbq. You would think there would be at least one retailer here but not to be. We also want to buy a "clam" stand alone awning. There are zero companies here representing stand alone awnings. Another couple we met were looking for a catalytic heater. Once again zero companies represented.

Everything changes... hour by hour, even year by year. I know my focus for going to Quartszist will never be about the RV show or the Gem Show, it will be to attend the all-molded-gathering at Dome Rock. THAT is on my Bucket List. Anything else that is happening in the 'area' will be 'gravy.' YMMV

Well you definitely won't be disappointed coming to quartzsite. The enormous amount of RV's in the area is mind boggling. We are still a couple weeks out from the Feb 4th official begin date and right now we have 13 molded fiberglass campers here at Dome Rock. Some have left only to be replaced with others. We now have 4 Oliver's which is a record for me to see in one setting.

The RV show has changed a lot over the years and long gone are the great deals. Being rock hounds, we hit up the rock and gem vendors during the Q rally. I'm going to firmly put my foot down this year to not bring 50#s of finds home this year.....I hope .

Well, here at the LTVA in Quartzsite (about 300' from the big tent) it was cloudy, but here are a couple of fuzzy eclipse & blood moon photos:

While I'll agree that the "Big Tent" show is far from an RV specific exhibition, if you look hard enough you will find something every year. I usually pick up a new RV mat, get my free Progressive "T" shirt, and enjoy wandering watching the crowd.

I wouldn't drive cross country just for the show, but it is something to see at least once. Since ai spent the winter in the Long Term Visitor Area, it is just part of the Quartzsite experience.

By the way, there is a huge rock & gem show the week before that is worth checking out. Parts of it will still be hanging around during the rally.

We got up this morning and decided to bail on Quartzsite for a few days. We didnt go to far just up the road to Parker for a nice room with showers at the casino. Looking forward to some restaraunt food and some pampering before heading back to Quartzsite for the rally.

Thanks, but I was hoping to duplicate this set I took with a much lower resolution camera in October, 2004:

And, that is why I should have just left my camera in the closet.

Filtered well water is still $0.25 for a timed 5 gallon dispense at the RV Pit stop.

Quartzsite Swap Meet Updates

UPDATED INFORMATION

Dome Rock Swap Meet
at the Quartzsite Gathering
Saturday, Feb 9, 2019
8am - 10am
Hosted by Arizona Eileen

This is your opportunity to recycle those camping items you no longer use! There've been some terrific items in past years!

The location of the Swap Meet will be somewhere down in front near the Registration. Blue tarps will be laid out on the ground ahead of the event.

SELLERS
Items must be camping-related...basically anything having to do with RVing.
This can also include books, CDs, electronics, etc. -- stuff you'd use when traveling. No clothing items, please.

— Sellers may arrive at 7:45 am to set out their items; however, no sales before 8 am, please.
— Purchase a box of small envelopes at the Dollar Store (I'll also have some on hand).
— On the front of the envelope, write: 1) Your name, 2) the item name, 3) the price, 4) your cell phone number
— Affix the envelope to the item you wish to sell and leave your item(s) on one of the tables at the Swap Meet.
— Be willing to accept either cash or check.
— There will be a table for FREE STUFF. No envelopes necessary.
— If you have a table or ground cover we can use for a few hours to display items, please bring it along.
— No need to stick around if you don't want to since someone will be there keeping an eye on things.

— At 10 am, Sellers should plan to claim their payment(s) and/or remaining item(s).

BUYERS
— Buyers will remove the envelope from the item they wish to purchase, place their payment inside, and then deposit it into the PAYMENTS box.

— Acceptable payments are cash or check. (I MAY be able to make change, but no guarantees.)
— Buyers may write their name and cell number on the envelope before depositing it into the box if they have questions for the Seller.

MISCELLANEOUS
No outside vendors are permitted without permission from Greg A., the rally host.

If you arrive there at night be sure you have your flashlight. It gets real Dark when there's no moon and there are no signs or off-the-road-gully-warnings.
