2013, Oct. 17-20: Cherokee NC in October

Hello,
Jean asked me to post this. Looking forward to a great turnout again!
Kip
-------------------------------------
Cherokee, NC, in October! There are a LOT of interesting places to go around Cherokee, it is the entrance to the Great Smokey Mtn. NP, the blue Ridge Parkway starts there, too, along with many historical and Native American points of interest.

Happy Holiday RV Village is the place, October 17-20 are the dates. Last year we had a large number of fiberglass trailers at the rally, great weather, colorful foliage and a great time! Let's do it again this year.

We got a late start last year and still had 30 or so rigs attend. So with this much earlier start, we hope to have an even better turnout.

Happy Holiday RV Village, tel. 877-782-2765, website, www.happyholidayrv.com

When you call to make a reservation PLEASE mention Egg Campers, they have started a file for us for the rally. A lot of folks were on the back side of the campground along the back creek and some right near there in the drive through sites. Borderbrae (Jean) reserved #090, where I was last October and will be arriving on the 15th.

10-15 rigs, 10% off
16-20 rigs, 15% off
Over 20 rigs, 20% off

I reserved the meeting/rec room for Friday and Sat. evenings.

If you are coming please email Jean at borderbrae@aol.com or Kip at kipann@att.net so we can start a list.

Kip, that was not us. We would have come to see you if it was us! The TN EGG Camper Rally next week will be our first rally in the Snoozy. Will you two be there?

Sorry, had another senior moment!
Just got all excited when seeing your Snoozy!

Now remembering that we met y'all at 2012 Cherokee!

We won't be able to attend the Egg Camper rally in Tenn. I understand it is going to be quite a big one. Should be a lot of fun!

Look forward to seeing y'all again in Cherokee, mayby sooner.

Smile New registration

Another couple has registered for Cherokee.

Looking forward to them sharing with us here on FGRV.

Please do that when registering, so the rest of us will know something about you. Such as what state you are from, type and brand of camper and any furry friends you are bringing along.

Makes it fun!

Another reservation

We had another reservation yesterday. Believe they said they will be parking their U-Haul on Site 88.

I believe that makes 8 confirmed reservations.

Hi Dennis and Judy..can't wait to see you both again. Dennis, hope you and your family have a great time hiking the App Trail. I have also made reservations for Land Between the Lakes October 3-5. I have finally made the decision to go full time for a year. I have set the date of August 1, this summer. I want to travel up the east coast to Maine and then back. Very nervous, have to rent out my house, but the biggie is" What to do with all this STUFF" Reminds me of George Carlin. Also, I wonder if I have lost my mind traveling in a 13' Scamp with no shower and just a portapotty. My kids and friends think I am crazy( I already knew that) but if I don't go now and wait until later, there may not be a later.

Emily, do you go by "M"?

Glad you will be at Cherokee. It amazes Ann and me that we have met so many ladies doing solo camping. And why not?

Wish we had started this "camping" leg of our life earlier while we were better able to do so. I'm just a little bit envious of the soloist and couples that decide to put their "Stuff" aside and see this great country, while their opportunity is there.

"Stuff" comes and goes, but memories last forever!

I sign M and think of myself as M..faster to type. I could not travel this way earlier due to work obligations. I have learned to live on less thru retirement. I also never, and I mean never camped until I bought my Scamp last October. I have always loved to travel and I like the speed of this new lifestyle.

M,

Seems to me that is takes a lot of courage to take on something so new, like solo camping, at retirement age.

We still have a couple of "anchors" that keep us closer to home than we would like, but are slowly expanding our horizons. Like you, we want to do it while we are still able!

Camping is certainly a lot less expensive than doing hotels and motels and ya get to sleep in your own bed every night. A giant plus is the wonderful people we meet at campgrounds. Egg rallies are beginning to seem more like family reunions.

Registration #11 I think

Just saw the e-mail that we have another registration. He is on site #924.

Welcome Patrick.

I think that brings the number to 11. And working on the 2nd tier of discounts.

Jean has started a spread sheet of folks, and site numbers.

This is starting to look really good!
