2014, May 2-4: Mille Lacs Kathio State Park (MN)

I am working on getting some of my Tearjerkers (Teardrop Trailer Enthusiasts) together for a little gathering this coming May at Mille Lacs Kathio State Park near Mille Lacs Lake and I was wondering it any of my Egghead friends would like to join us. I think it would be fun to get both groups together since they seem to have the same ideas on having a good camping time. Last year we did Mille Lacs Kathio in May and the weather was just a little cool but the Park let us use their Trail Center for free and even started a fire in the wood stove for us. It was a lot of fun. Let me know if you would be interested in join us. Here is a link to the park:

Tim,

I think you can edit your post for a few hours after posting, so you might be able to change that 2013 to 2014.

We were going to come down last year without a reservation. That late winter weather kept us home. I would suspect that we would do the same 2014, see about a first come, first serve sight.

We stopped at Kathio in September on the way home from Taylor's Falls. It is a very nice park. We were not able to see the visitor center.

Nancy, Thanks for letting me know of my mistake. It lets me edit my post but not the Thread Title. Dang. Maybe a administrator can fix it for me.

The Dot and I would be interested...if it doesn't interfere with her teaching schedule.

Let me know what weekends would work for her teaching schedule and I will try to schedule this gathering to accommodate the most people. I know that I will never be able to make everyone happy but I CAN try.

A weekend without snow? I had visions of the park plowing open your sites last year. If we were to show up any weekend would work. Don't plan on us, we are a big maybe.

May is usually a nice month. something really strange happened last year.

We kept looking at our mud road and the weather and.... The comfort of home won out. We are a bit too old for that much excitement.

Nope no snow but it was a little cool. We DID enjoy the trail center that they let us use. Here are some photos of last year:

Fishing Opener

Just something to consider -- Minnesota Fishing Opener is Saturday May 10 ,2014 and everything around Mille Lacs Lake will be booked up including Kathio State Park . Camping sites will be really scarce especially if the weather is good . It may not be the best weekend to hold a rally

Good point. Then maybe we should shoot for camping the weekend BEFORE fishing opener. Anyone else game for May 2-4? Does this mean your interested in camping with us Steve?
