Question Southern Egg Rally?

Anyone in the Southeast especially the Tennessee area want to plan an egg rally some day?
We need full hookups.

There is supposed to be an egg group that gets together in TN, GA, and AL.
Tennessee Camping Club
Link is down.
Anyone have contacts with them?

We are camping here this week:

Whispering River RV Resort - Walland
http://whisperingriverresort.com/

Features:
full hookups
next to the Little Pigeon River for trout fishing
close by the Great Smokey Mountains
has a pool
rather rustic but reasonable
Rated the best of Townsend and Walland the peaceful side of the Smokeys.
Close to Gatlinburg and the back entrance that is not full of tourist traps.

Another suggestion a campout next to Douglas Dam in Dandridge TN for the "high end" they have openings after the kiddies go back to school.
Anchor Down
New RV Resort, Breathtaking Views, Fireplaces, BathHouse, STAY WITH US

We host the annual Eggs on the Hiawassee River in NE Hiawassee Georgia in May, it has turned into a bigger rally than we ever expected. You should come to it.

On facebook look for the Egg Camping Club group.

The next rally I know of close is Cherokee in October if they are still having it, then there is LBL rally and then the Outer Banks rally.

The Hiawassee is really stinky in TN.
Got that paper factory in Calhoun.
Used to be Bowater but got bought out.
Bet it is cleaner in GA.
Does the rally have full hookups?
We need a sewer connections for our emergencies.
Happy Camper is great.
Breaks down stuff.
We use the camp restrooms for the non-emergencies.
Never use TP but use those wipes and dispose of them in grocery bags then right outside to our plastic bag that gets dumped frequently.

The rivers headwaters are in the NE Georgia area of Hiawassee near Helen. The rally is at Riverbend Campground and has sites along side the river. This is the nicest campground private or public that we have ever been to, 5 stars. They have full hookups and some W&E sites. The bathhouses are immaculate too. Its a family ran place and they sell the Happy Camper in their store.

The Cherokee rally is good I have heard, we missed it the year before last as I had a work conflict so we rescheduled 2 weeks later to avoid losing our deposit. The Happy Holiday campground is okay I guess but it doesn't compare to Riverbend.

Sounds great. Good to know that river is clean in GA.
We will check into the next Cherokee rally and the one in GA.

The egg group mentioned above holds a rally in Townsend, TN every April. While I tend to avoid KOAs, this one is special and worth a stay. Better still, the rally goers get a hefty discount over the usual rate.

Falls Creek is a definite on my list of places to see. I agree with Bill, the Townsend KOA is very nice, the rally was very informal with no planned/organized activities to my knowledge but the folks we met were friendly.

Hello,
I'm curious why you don't take initiative to start a rally at Whispering River or another one of your choice resorts? You seem to like the locations and what they offer.

In regards to Hiawassee, it does have full hook ups on some sites and they have one of the most immaculate/contemporary bath facilities I have ever seen in a campground. With your "stinky" reference, there is no area smell...quite the contrary in its natural mountain setting. Well worth the nightly fee.

2017 Autumn rallies in the region start with LBL and Eggshells in The Outer Banks. This year they are scheduled on the same weekend. The following weekend also has two area rallies scheduled. Cherokee (Western NC) and King of the Wild Frontier (Eastern TN).
You can refer to the 2017 Rally Map for these and other rallies. Most have FiberglassRV.com links to their threads, which will provide additional information.

We came back from Whispering River, Walland, TN.
7 mi. woth from Maryville ~ 17 mi. north of Great Smokey Mountains Park.

We took a day trip to the Smokeys. No way would we tow our bigger egg up there. Too new and the roads narrow and twisty. Went to Edgemont Campground for a look see. A childhood rememberance place of the DH camping w/ his family and the other scouts. Primitive - no water, electric and of course no sewer hookup. Suited for very minimal campers and tents. LOVELY however a must see! Cades Cove as beautiful as ever. Expect hordes of traffic even during the week.

Whispering was rated the best in the Townsend, Walland area.
It was OK. So that should tell everyone if it was the best the others were not so hot at all.

We drove past several of them. Crammed right together and most old and run down. KOA there in Townsend is overpriced and people are packed in like sardines.

Whispering had clean enough restrooms, small pool, not much of an office (needed staining badly) with no shop / grocery.
It was in a hollar between 2 ridges.
The Little Pigeon River, rocky and flowing bordered one side between the camp and the 4 lane highway. The noise level from the road not bad at all.

DH didn't catch any trout.
Did catch a turtle.
Had to cut the poor critter loose.

Lots were a small/medium grassy with gravel pads.
Full hookups (A MUST for us).
Very friendly campers and enjoyed ourselves.
Nothing fancy but was great for a few days to use our new trailer.

Test is coming in August for about 3 weeks going and coming back from FL.

We are going to Anchor Down on a ride to check it out. Some may not count it as camping as it's got lots of pavement. It does have a pool/waterslide and is right on Douglas Dam. Close to the Smokeys in Dandridge but not in them. Very pretty area.
It seems to be booked up until the kiddies go back to school in mid-August.

We can camp there say the 2nd/3rd week in September. Still trying to find out when their pool closes for the season.

Now me plan a rally? Uh uh. Trust me you wouldn't want me to. It would be a flop for sure. No planner or social butterfly organizer. Now spontaneous yeah.

Anyone love planning stuff? Take the lead? I make a good follower. DH mmm maybe not so much.

I found campsites in Townsend KOA to be relatively spacious. Price is high for sure, the Townsend Egg Rally enjoys a great discount. I don't usually camp in this area, as its where I live.....

Down by the River campground in Pineola is pretty nice, close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, great location.

Want spacious camping spots? In general, that favors state and National Parks, as they have plenty of land. Of course, a lot of those don't have hookups, but some do. State Parks across the SE are routinely quite nice.

Alabama has some really nice state parks, with nice camping. Two that come to mind are Eufala State Park and Cheaha State Park.

You into planning?
Whispering River is certainly an OK place.
Not snazzy but clean and adequate.
We go for the amazing scenery of the Smokeys.

I certainly agree it would be great to have meet ups in the SouthEast.
No doubt we have some SEC Fans here.

We like going to the Panhandle of FL (like in Aug) which is named the Redneck Rivera. See LOTS of SEC plates, GA, FL, AL, MS, TN, KY, TX ...

Very few Yankees go there as they mistakenly go to Orlando or the East Coast. Only seem to know I-75 and I-95. Too bad, so sad.

The KOA in Townsend looked pretty crowded to us. It probably was pretty nice. They are on the high side in price for the area. I'll look up more information on the Townsend Rally. Egg Discount?

Yes, the State and Federal Parks are terrific but we can't do them as we need full-hookups (a health restriction problem).

One thing I have noticed the FL State Parks are slowly adding full hookups like at Topsail and Grayton Beach.

Maybe as us boomers age the State and Federal Parks will add full hookups. Sometimes emergencies can't make it to the bathroom/showers in time.
