Yum! nothing to throw away except grease.
If you throw away the grease, what will you fry the potatos and eggs in? (not to mention the popcorn!)

Canned bacon: Tactical Bacon. Find it at Thinkgeek.com, along with MANY other bacon related products.

The plastic thing is/was the Bacon-Wave! My mom still has one! Works great!

For those of you near an Aldi's discount grocery, they sell a pretty good pre-cooked bacon in plastic and box, similar to Hormel's.

I love bacon, unfortunately not so my arteries. BUT, I buy the microwave bacon when I go camping. It's a special treat. A microwave and package of bacon... NIRVANA! Best of all, no messy cleanup

Yeah... We have the BEST breakfasts when we're camping! Especially when my in-laws come along and bring fresh sausage from the local farm.

I have to second Donna's choice of the Hormel microwave bacon. After reading this thread the other day, we decided to try it.

We used it to make delicious BLTs for lunch today. I can't believe how convenient it is. The bacon can also go from the freezer to the microwave.

I'm always looking for easy ways to cook on the road and avoid messy cleanup - if you use a microwave, this one is a real keeper.

Thanks Donna!

, now if someone would just come up with a good tasting microwave sausage that's as easy to use as the Hormel bacon... I've yet to fine one!

AND - believe it or not, there is bacon chocolate available as well! My son's girlfriend got him some - but I have NO idea where she got it, other than "in Seattle".

I love how bacon is considered a "survival essential" I'll have to try some of options mentioned. One product that I like is the Kirkland brand crumbled bacon, sold at Costco. It is precooked in a resealable bag. I use it in cooking all kinds of things from beans to eggs. You can mix it with hamburger and grill it. I'm sure you could make a sandwich too, but it would best in a pocket bread. It's a good quality product with good flavor. My dogs love a little sprinkled over their "Bison in lamb Broth" dinner.

I've also been on the quest for jerky, but that is another topic.
