17 inch shillet

Mary:
Actually I use my 17 inch skillit a lot, probably once every week or two.Plus a lot when camping with a group.
I fix a lot of stuff ahead, like a couple of pounds of sausage to freeze. And it is great as a griddle. I uesd it last week made Lazagana, used it to cook the onions/vegs/meat. Then I froze 4 lazaganas in the throw away bread pans. 2 for my daughter and 2 for my house. I'm out in Marble today, all that thinking about Marble the other day kicked me over the edge, I stole a day off, got here at 3 pm Friday.I really like keeping my rig set up and running for this kind of slip away day.

Where do you carry it???

I carry two skillets and two dutch ovens in my trailer.

Under my counter there is a small storage cabinet in front of the
fender-well, and this is where I keep them.
I wrap the smaller pan with bubble wrap and put it inside the larger pan, then use a layer of bubble wrap on the larger pan and put it in a bag.
The space I have is a tight squeeze for the large pans, and I put them in on an angle, and they don't seem to be able to move around. So far no problems.

This year however, I hope to be able to build a box to stack them all in.

The Box

I haven't figured that one out yet Jana, But I was thinking about a box on the rear bumper and re-distributing the weight so I don't lose the balance. I finally got my new jacks on, and when it warms up enough I'll get some pictures and post them.

Breakfast

:zz Hi Mary,

I couldn't sleep so here I am again in the middle of the night. I checked out the recipe and it is basically the same as mine. Of course, everybody adds their own touches. I have a freind up in Idaho who is a Scout leader and cooks with DO's for a lot of people at a time, with help of course, and he gave me a great little set of info and recipes for DO cooking and care and handling of the ovens. I'm going to get it into a Word document file and make it available to everyone as soon as I can. The Scouts and Mormons are the best at DO cooking. God, I'm getting hungry again thinking about the good foods. My wife and I always cook up a big 12 inch Dutch Oven of Chili when we're out camping. It's utterly delicious out there and is always cleaned up by all of us. Of course, all the good Red Wine we drink makes it special too. I wonder what it would taste like if we didn't drink the wine?? hmmmmm?

G'night,

EKW

Keith, I don't know if the chili would taste the same or not without the red wine, but I can almost guarantee ya the heartburn wouldn't be as bad!

Looking forward to your recipes and more talk of campfire cooking...
