I have come across a book
"Mrs Beetons Book of Household Management"
This was written in 1861. If we ate like this now we would be as big as a horse, and it's no wonder that their life expectancy was about half that of ours now. Remember that this is ONE meal for Six persons.
Appetisans
Puree of Wood Pigeon.............2 1/2 pints
Red Mullet..............................6 fish
Chaufroid of Chicken..............1 dish
Lamb Cutlets..........................1 dish
Duckling.................................2 birds
Green Peas...........................1 peck
Vanilla Souffle..........................1
Marbled jelly...........................1
Vegetables with joint. potatoes...1 peck

Kent, I've looked at this post several times! It's beyond me that they ate all this in one sitting!
I bet that's one cool book, however! I recall a book written to be an homemaker's guide. It was so funny! A woman was a slave to the kitchen! Thank goodness, those days have changed!
