I know folks either like microwaves or don't. I fall into the LOVE-my-microwave camp. It can do far more than boil water or make popcorn. Great for quick meals when hooked up.

Here's a link for making items in a coffee mug using a microwave. The dry ingredients you can premeasure out at home and put in a ziplock baggy. Easy peasy to do the wet ingredients in camp.

It is worth having a microwave just for microwave corn on the cob. My daughter turned me on to microwave scrambled eggs. Just too easy and only one pot (cup) mess. Thanks for the link Donna.

At home, I use the microwave more then any other cooking implement. I just have not got it going in a trailer yet.

As a single traveler, cooking meals can be problematic. STILL love my microwave. Found this link today. Haven't tried ANY of the recipes. But folks that cook can TELL if the ingredients would combine to make something tasty. I do know that a microwave is capable of FAR more than just heating water, reheating coffee or popping popcorn. Guess I'm on the microwave list too. MMM, think in over 30 years I've used an oven twice and the stove top maybe a dozen times. The micro is in the rig and if I forget the BBQ, well, I'll only half starve .

We bought a Sharp convection microwave and since the Scamp has a ways to go in it's rebirth we are learning to use it in the home kitchen.
It works well when you use both to brown and cook to the center of (for excampe a chicken breast) something.
You can bake, broil, grill, and microwave to your heart's content.
We hope it will work well to replace the stove top and oven. Time will tell!

Hot Dogs & Canned Chili, Grits, Bacon, Microwave Pancakes, Microwave Mashed Potato Cups, Frozen Stouffer's (or other brand) Lasagna - Mac & Cheese etc. and the list goes on. Granted - not exactly health food. I take my statins and hike an extra mile.

We use the nuke for reheating, that's about it. This fall however we picked up a couple Marie Callender frozen entrees for quick meals when we get back late. They were surprisingly good.

LOL... We eat good healthy stuff for the most part when camping, at least as good, or better, than we do at home.

BUT, getting out camping is the main thing, eating is secondary at best.

I tried the second recipe, the one with oatmeal and blueberries (we just happened to have some fresh blueberries from the store). It was tasty. I think this could become a regular breakfast dish for me.

being a single guy I cook in my MW almost exclusively. I did buy a induction cook top---I do like the speed at which it works for me. But when I don't have power I do use the stove top with a different pan.
camping to me is NOT slaving over a hot stove-for my meals.
