My First Garden

Growing up in the big city - Los Angelus area - I didn't try a garden. My parents had one and I had to do the weeding. I guess we had lots of vegetables.
:P
First time ever. I had my own garden & planted a few things that seem like they would be fun.
First we had planted Tomatoes. (we love salads)
Next we planted Zucchini (wanted to make sure something grew)
Yellow Squash
Then I grew 4 kinds of hot peppers (red little pointy things)
Little egg shaped guards (they grew so big we trans planted them, they died)
and, lastly - Watermellon.
:E :E
Tonight I had my first ice cold Home Grown Watermellon. OH man it was so sweet and good. What a treat.

Send me one

Yum Mike! I don't suppose you'd send me a watermelon, would you?

Naw, I didn't think so.:o

Everyone knows about how to cut a watermelon in half, hollow out one half and use the hollowed-out half as a bowl for fruit salad (including cut-up watermelon).

But the cutest thing I've seen recently is a watermelon baby carriage.

Instead of cutting the melon in half, you only cut off a quarter, then hollow out the remaining 3/4. Then zig-zag the edges and fill with fruit salad. The handle of the baby carriage was made from part of the quarter piece removed. The wheels were slices of cantalope.

Really cute. Probably more effort than it's worth.

But hey, you get to eat yummy left over watermelon.

Bestus

The bestus way to eat watermelon is to wak the watertermelon with the edge of your hand.
If it's ripe, it splits open and you grab the 'center cut' (no seeds) shove it in your mouth and run. :o

Since this is a garden thread, Michael..........

I presume all of those new smilies are harvested from your own plants. Did you grow them from seeds or did you buy them in a six-pack at the nursery?:) ;) :o :wave :E :o :r :zz

I'll swear I saw one of those default smiley guys move just now! Did he? Or do I need to go back into therapy tomorrow? (Charles, you're disqualified to answer this question.)

George

>>back to therapy

I wasn't aware you'd stopped going to therapy! For that matter, I thought the court order pretty much made that clear that you were supposed to continue session through 2010!:lol
