Skeeter Repellent Recipe

To anyone who likes sitting out in the evening or when they're having a cook out. So you don't like those pesky mosquitoes, especially now that they have the potential to carry the West Nile Virus?

Here's a tip that was given at a recent gardening forum. Put some water in a white dinner plate and add a couple drops of Lemon Fresh Joy dish detergent. Set the dish on your porch, patio, or other outdoor area. Not sure what attracts them, the lemon smell, the white plate color, or what, but mosquitoes flock to it, and drop dead shortly after drinking the Lemon Fresh Joy/water mixture, and usually within about 10 feet of the plate.

Check it out---it works just super! May seem trivial, but it may help control mosquitoes around your home, especially in the south, and elsewhere where the West Nile virus is reaching epidemic proportions in mosquitoes, birds, and humans.

Clean and

oooh, double-duty use for dishwashing soap. Not typically the brand I use, but switching is easy. It will be nice to have one more thing in the egg that does more than one thing!:banana

Good advice!

I can remember so well being a small boy in muggy, stifling hot New Orleans and listening to the huge mosquitoes buzzing around outside my window. One night I was terrified to overhear two of them talking about me! "Shall we eat him here or take him home?" one said, and the other replied, "Better eat him here. If we take him home the big ones will take him away from us!"

about this double dutying the Joy. Picture this - Your standing outside washing up and all the skeeters are trying to swim getting in the way of the washing. don't think that would be a good idea. :nope skeeters would be sticking to the drying plates. nope, not a pretty picture.

Mosquitoes

:wave
We are more careful about Mosquitoes now, since the West Nile Virus scare, I mean. I saw one this morning, but it was flying so fast I didn't catch the registration number. (!!?!!)
Cheers

Big mosquitos

When I was in the Air Force, a mosquito flew up behind our KC-135 tanker and we pumped 20,000 pounds of JP-4 into him before we figured out he wasn't a B-52.

I hate it when that happens.

Who had to pay for the JP-4? Or did you get his credit card number?
