Winter comfort food recipes

So what dish really hits the spot for you when you come in out of the cold? Is it soup, a casserole, a stove top quickie? Don't forget the recipe.

I asked this question on the Casita site, but I know all of you fiberglass folks probably have some favorites.

Winter comfort food recipes

Chili! Some meat (leftover pork is my favorite, or hamburger, chicken, sausage,...), chopped onions & minced garlic, several cans of whatever beans I happen to have, a can of diced tomatoes, plenty of chili powder, oregano, cayenne pepper, dash cinnamon, simmer, and throw in a can of corn for color. Serve with fresh cilantro. Quick & easy when I'm cold & hungry.

Clam Chowder - homemade of course
4 slices bacon and 1 onion diced and cooked together. Add 3 or 4 diced potatoes and juice from one can of clams and then enough water or clam nectar to just cover the potatoes. Boil till potatoes are cooked. Add one can of evap milk, warm through and serve.

Chili or Stew. Can't help you with recipes, I'm not the cook.

It's hard to beat chili. A good homemade vegetable soup works.

Tonight it's pouring down out there. Not as cold as some folks are feeling. Keeping it simple with meatball stew over roasted potatoes and onions.

Split pea soup, with lots of garlic, onions, celery and smoked ham. Paired with hot cornbread right out of the oven slathered with butter. YUMMM.
