I think a TDI Golf hatchback may be in the future for me.

Who is "He"

"He" was the owner of the VW/Airstream mentioned. He got raked over the coals for his towing experience by many in the the TDI group that the original link came from. Seems that they think the same way some do here about more obscure concepts like manufacturers specifications and limits.

Not responding to bad information and/or bad ideas is the same as giving tact approval.....Troll or No...

Never mind- the answer's the same regardless, but you'll have to watch "Back to the Future" to find out what it is...

Oh...that guy... funny anyone would pick on him over tow ratings.
You'd think he'd have taken a lot more heat for going all over Canada on a "Save the Earth!" mission while towing a big ol' trailer. THAT has to have ruined his "I'm an environmentalist" street-cred.

By the way- and this is for all concerned:

Since I started this "joke" thread, I hereby declare that only those that attempt to sabotage it into a serious discussion of any kind are to be considered in any way "Trolls". If anyone wants to discuss the relative merits of European/Canadian/United Statesian standards, please start another thread in one of "Take this seriously" sections of the forum.

In the immortal words of Mammy Yokum:

Ah has spoken!

How does one differentiate between the "joke" thread and the "serious" thread?

"Jokes, Stories, and Tall Tales" in the section head is an important clue!
A thread in any forum section that does not fall under that heading can be taken seriously.....at least at first.

I'm sorry, David, but I can't accept that image of you...

Ever since you posted that pic of your adorable nine year old self I can't think of you as anything but so cute I could just squeeze the dickens out of you!

Hence the post here instead of starting a new thread asking for the umpteen time "can my car tow this". This thread seemed to be about outrageous tow set ups. Even seemed to go full circle from the original post (VW). Even I have my doubts about that particular setup.

And starting a new thread would have most likely just started another long argument "you need a 1 ton to pull that!" and "I can pull a 5th wheel with my compact p/u".

So I thought we could have light hearted fun because this wasn't meant to be taken seriously. That, and I miss placed the video of my car pulling a 25' class A that had broke down (only into the shop from the parking lot where the tow truck dropped it).

Back to hardy har har about silly towing pranks and stunts

Yup, importing from the EU means we get hit hard by the exchange rate. So they are moving production from the oldest factory to one of the newest. They are also building an engine factory in Mexico to keep up with demand. The cursed 2.5L 5cyl is finally getting the axe in favor of a 1.8T 4cyl. So now we will get a car for a couple grand less that has same power and much improved MPG.

Jason at what point are you going to realize this is in the JOKE section? but then again this really is become a pretty good joke! Appears some dont realize that trolling in the Joke section is just wasting bait.

FWIW: Both when I receive notification of a new post, as well as when I call up the entire thread, there is nothing that tells me in what part of the forum the post originated.

Unfortunately there was nothing funny about the post, re: VW/Airstream Bambi combination.

I don't use "New Posts". I view the threads on the right side of the main pane and click on them there. That takes me immediately to the first unread post. So, I don't have a clue what section a thread is posted to. I find using New Posts a pain in the butt.

I was eleven. I have changed since then. My kids are that cute though, and don't they know it. But they are all avowed trolls too.

That just defeats the ease with which I view new posts now. I don't have to click more than once to get to first unread post so I'm not going to be scrolling up to find out what section it was posted in.

In any event, my question was supposed to be a joke itself.<_<

Heavy sigh...Thread Death Spiral now fully underway...

How do I request that a thread I started be closed due to the original joke having been forgotten, not to mention now falling completely flat and/or on deaf ears???

Well Francesca the fact the Joke aspect of the thread was missed despite your repeated attempts to point it out proves one aspect of internet life correct ... people hear/read only what they want to hear/read

You keep posting caricatures of me like that one (though it is quite accurate), and your posts, and post count, shall be trod upon by my evil meany mod boots.

Francesca, there's a troll in Fremont what ate a Beetle. I think Fremont is somewhere in the SeaTac area. As for your request, make it declarative of your desire rather than interrogatory of the method of fulfilling your desire and, maybe, just maybe someone will close the thread. I hope this doesn't mean I'll miss the punch line?
