Cell Phones in Public

..So many times I wanted to do this.
========================

After a tiring day, a commuter settled down in his seat and closed his eyes.
As the train rolled out of the station, the young woman sitting next to him pulled out her cell phone and started talking in a loud voice:

"Hi sweetheart. It's Sue. I'm on the train".

"Yes, I know it's the six thirty and not the four thirty, but I had a long meeting".

"No, honey, not with that Kevin from the accounting office. It was with the boss".

"No sweetheart, you're the only one in my life".

"Yes, I'm sure, cross my heart!"

Fifteen minutes later, she was still talking loudly.

When the man sitting next to her had enough, he leaned over and said into the phone, "Sue, hang up the phone and come back to bed."

Sue doesn't use her cell phone in public any longer.

hahaha!!

i SO hate listening to other's cell phone conversations----but it's difficult NOT to listen. if they only realized that what they have to say is NOT something everyone wants to hear....

i'd love to be in the right place to do this some day!

Technical Immigrants

The other day I heard people my age referred to as 'technical immigrants'. It's like people my age were dropped onto another planet.

In a measure it's a reality when 2 and 3 year olds can pick up my Tablet and get on-line to their favorite web site. It's clear that virtually instant communications to anyone at anytime will be a reality. It may not fit our generation but it will fit in their generation in ever growing ways that are difficult to imagine.

On our next trip to Newfoundland next spring we'll wear Google Glasses and everything we see can be seen by any one who cares to get on line, or maybe seen thru their own Google Glasses.

Not too far fetched. On our 2008 trip across Labrador we sent out our SPOT position as we traveled and people could link to Google Earth and see some of what we saw.

The world changes.

I wish cell phone came with user instructions because you don't need to talk loudly on them. Because the ear piece has no feedback like a land line phone, people feel a need to project their voices, much to my disgust.

I know several who are just "loud mouths" where they're talking
on the phone, to someone, or even talking to themselves.

Me, too. But others just seem to need to shout, which makes it all the worse.
