Today we had to take our daughter to her doctor in Tulsa.
I went out to start the car so it would already be heated up
by the time the ladies got ready. There were sheets of ice
on our stairway (steps) outside. I've always been very cautious
about stepping flat footed when there's ice. I don't know what
happened this morning, but one bad step and I was down on my
back. Problem was I hit the edge of the step with my shoulder
blades. I thought I had broken my back. But, thankfully I could
still move after laying there for a few seconds. A little difficult
to get back up.......LOL. The ladies were at the other end of the
house and didn't hear a thing. Even if I were able to yell and did,
they wouldn't have heard a thing. Wearing SAS shoes does NOT help.

I managed to get back up so I walked gingerly across the drive and
started the car. Then I very, very cautiously went back up the steps
and back into the house. Got the scissors, opened a new bag of salt,
and covered the ice with it. At least wife and daughter had better
chance at avoiding injuries.

Thankfully, chiropractor is on the way to Tulsa. I was going to pass on
by, but when I got to the exit I decided to check to see if they were open.
Luck.........open and not a soul in sight. Went right straight to the table
and got fixed up. He said it's best to do this soon after it happens before
it locks in or sets up. Sad for them their heater had quit. Both wearing
their coats........lol. Of course he took his off when doing adjustments.
I didn't know I lost a chunk of hide on my right elbow in the fall until I laid
on the adjustment table. It was painful to the touch.

Then back on the road to the doctor. Once we got to Tulsa we got behind
a guy in a pickup with a large dog in the back. I don't know what he was
standing on but he could see over the cab. It was obvious whatever it was
it was very cold. The dog kept dancing raising each foot after one or two
seconds. He'd try to sit briefly but was right back up. This time I truly felt
sorry for someone's pet. When I finally passed the pick up I could tell the
dog was tied with a cable.

Anyway, we're back home now and I'm getting plenty sore.........LOL

It is 34ş and rain in your house?

It is 44ş and rain here in the Great Pacific North Wet, that is outside.

Left coast applies to Oregon and Washington, too.

Well here it is in Michigan
the 4th of March,,,, whoopee.
The snow is still up to my butt,
there's still no ground to see.

I don't believe we'll get thawed out
before the end of May.
....and now I'm too darn cold to think of any more rhymes
anyway.

If it makes up feel any better here in North Vancouver we had no snow all winter - in fact a few of the local ski hills were shut down. 2 weeks ago it was 15C outside & I was working in the garden, flowers starting to appear ...... then last week it hit! 8" of snow - still some on the ground and been snowing on and off for the last few days......

It was kind of cold here last weekend (about -35°C or so) which was quite bitter with the wind we had. Has warmed up now to about -24°C this morning, and with it being quite calm today, was almost shirt sleeve weather. It is amazing how you can become accustomed to almost anything. We are expecting + temperatures later this week, so crossing my fingers that spring may soon be coming.

there are actually some little buds in the trees now, even with snow ground cover.
The Cherry Blossom in WDC I think starts real soon.

It has been a strange winter! Most of BC was very short on snow up until a couple of weeks ago. We had to move or cancel a number of ski races due to the lack of snow. It was kind of strange driving out to the rockies three times this winter and seeing how little snow there was across the province. Places were you would expect to see snow cover there was nothing but brown open fields. Some of the highways where snow banks are normally 10 feet or higher on the side of the road there was only a foot of snow, sometimes nothing!

Good news though is as you say its been coming down heavy across the province in the past couple of weeks. Which will help with the water reserve this summer. Was getting worried that water restrictions and campfire bans were going to start real early this year.

It's balmy in Norfolk, VA at degrees 38F. We DID have an inch of snow Monday, which shut down schools and government for two days.

Highway Thru Hell
LOL well Roy here is the thing - highways can become Highways to Hell very fast. Best to be prepared for the what if. Although we had very limited snow pack & few and far between big snow falls here in BC in December and January, on each of my trips to the Rockies this winter I managed to hit a big storm on at least one of the major pass. Resulted in road closures! Including one in which my crew spent 12 hours staying warm & sleeping in the trucks due to the storm coming in so fast and heavy that the trip back to the nearest town 50 miles back would have been worse than just staying put. On another trip we were the last truck to be allowed through - they closed that pass behind us for 15 hours. On the return trips home 10 days later there was little to no sign of the storms that had delayed out travels to the event. Roads were perfectly clear little to no snow evident on the sides of them and the sun was shining bright!
