Golf - Tigers Master's oppps

Those that followed the Master's tournament over the week-end know that Tiger Woods was given a 2 stroke penalty for an improper ball drop - but only after a TV viewer called in to the golf club and reported it after Tiger admitted to it in during a TV interview after the game. Lots of speculation as to who the caller was.

The following Tweet went out on Friday to those of use who work in the world of alpine skiing:

Thomas Vonn @ThomasVonn
"No problem Masters tournament happy to call in and help. You always have to keep an eye on those cheaters "

https://twitter.com/ThomasVonn

Who is Thomas Vonn? The estranged husband of US Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn who happens to be currently dating Tiger and was at the Masters with him

The only officials that matter are the Paid ones at the event and the call should have been ignored. Officials make mistakes all the time and it stands. Just imagine how many games would have change if all the mistakes were corrected. Wait and see how many calls for all sports events are made now.

Actually it was perfectly legal call and the paid officials who review the tape agreed with the caller thus why TIger received the 2 stroke penalty. Only will impact other sports if they also decide to have the games played fair and square and permit such calls as golf does.

I would say that rules should be applied equally. Since every shot on every hole by every player is not subject to the same televised scrutiny, it seems inappropriate that some players could be subject to different standards than others.
If an official on course calls it, fine. If not, then no penalty, no matter what a viewer sees or thinks he sees. And apparently the legitimacy of the penalty is now in doubt.
cheers
Ian
