Is it just me?

Every time I look at the For Sale section and see the Trailers For Sale thread - I can't get that Roger Miller song out of my head - 'King Of The Road' - Is it just me? :weep :weep

more lyrics

I know every la, de, de ,de ,de on every train,
all of their children and all of de de de,
And every generator that ain't locked
When no one's around.

I'm a man of means, by no means.

I hope Rick knows the words better than you do, Charles. Else it will drive him crazy. :bh

Lyrics

For the record, it's still stuck in my head - no thanks to Michael changing the thread title! :cool :

Roger Miller - King of the Road

Trailers for sale or rent
Rooms to let...fifty cents.
No phone, no pool, no pets
I ain't got no cigarettes
Ah, but..two hours of pushin' broom
Buys an eight by twelve four-bit room
I'm a man of means by no means
King of the road.

Third boxcar, midnight train
Destination...Bangor, Maine.
Old worn out clothes and shoes,
I don't pay no union dues,
I smoke old stogies I have found
Short, but not too big around
I'm a man of means by no means
King of the road.

I know every engineer on every train
All of their children, and all of their names
And every handout in every town
And every lock that ain't locked
When no one's around.

I sing,
Trailers for sale or rent
Rooms to let, fifty cents
No phone, no pool, no pets
I ain't got no cigarettes
Ah, but, two hours of pushin' broom
Buys an eight by twelve four-bit room
I'm a man of means by no means
King of the road.

Well

Well, I don't know about y'all ... but when I'm in my trailer ... I am the king of the road!

I imagine you feel that way too (ok, some of you feel like queen of the road)(And no, Morgan, I'm not ....)

Mental image of Charles sitting in his trailer wearing his gorilla costume, singing "King of the Road" . . . . . not a pretty image.
:wiggly :jump :wave

Rick,

With your encyclopędic knowledge of lyrics, maybe you can help me. The song that keeps going through my head goes:

I'm oarin' in a dory off the coast of Newfoundland
I'm oarin' in a dory with a codfish in my hand
da, da de de (to paraphrase Charles)
I might just go back to Nova Scotia

What is that and where did I hear it? :reyes
