At Our Lady Of Perpetual Motion Lutheran Church they have a monthly husbands marriage seminar. At last weeks session, the Pastor asked me (because we are nearing our 25th wedding anniversary) to take a few minutes and share with the other husbands some insight into HOW I had managed to stay married to the same woman all these years.

"Well," I replied to the assembled husbands, "Ive always tried to treat her NICE, spend what money I could afford on her, but I think, best of all, I took her back to her hometown of Toronto for our 12th wedding anniversary."

The Pastor responded, "Doug, you are INDEED an amazing asperation to all the husbands here!! PLEASE share with us WHAT you are planning for your 25th anniversary."

I proudly responded, "Well, I guess its about time I went back to get her."

Hi: Doug... I asked a man at one of our church's Marriage Anniversary celebrations what his secret of 45 years married was. He said two words "YES DEAR".

Lee and I have been married for fifty years and we've always believed that marriage is like a ship at sea; one person has to be in charge. In our marriage, that's me, and I have Lee's permission to say that.

I have found that the arrangement my wife and I have works very well.
I get to decide all the major decisions.
She gets to decide which ones are the major decisions.

Well, then we will get the full story in June when we will see you at the Washington gathering. You do have that "she" will be joining us there too.

Cool

It is a division of decision making.

My wife makes all the minor decisions like where we live, what we buy, etc.

I get to make the major decisions, like should we recognize Cuba, be friends with Venezuela, etc.

I like that plan... Speaking from the wife's point of view, of course.
But then, I tend to want to give input on Cuba, Castro, Venezuela, Chavez, blah, blah, blah...

curious, does your wife think you suffer from early hearing loss, as I believe my husband does. (smile)

Seriously, I think we all know a good marriage is a lot of give and take, and a lot of laughter. Especially, when we can laugh at ourselves.
