South Dakota Injins

Pierre South Dakota 1999,
The first day of our fall 1999 vacation Was labor day We were heading for the West coast from Minnesota and our first night we stopped at a campground below the dam in the down stream recreation area. just north of Pierre.. We made camp early in the evening, and as I plugged in the 110 to the trailer the circuit breaker on the pole tripped Never had any problems before. I found that when I disconnected the green wire from my fuse box it then wouldn't. trip., so we could live with that. Now I see that the refrigerator lights were out they are on the 12 volt system not the 110. So I traced the wire to the terminal on the 12 volt converter and found that the screw was turned out. And the wire disconnected. We have had this trailer 3 years at this time and pulled it over 30,000 miles. So after tightening every thing worked fine.. Now to prepare our evening meal which we would cook on the portable gas grill. As I opened the compartment where the small propane bottle was kept it was full of gas as the valve was turned full open. Now this had. to have been done within the last few minutes as it would have been empty if it happened when I put in that morning. . So we went ahead and had our supper. It was a beautiful evening so we decided to go for a walk down to the river about three blocks away on one side of the path was a cattail swamp. When we got down near the river we were attacked by mosquitoes as if something was out in the cattails chasing them out. We had to run back to the trailer. We got inside and decided to watch some TV. There weren't any stations on the set as we were down below the dam and out of range of any stations so we would watch the VCR. we picked out a movie and watched for a half our or so and the sound got so bad we decided to try a different one. and on came a movie about the American Indian uprising at wounded knee South Dakota. Now this wasn't what it said on the tape So I decided to check it out and discovered that we were now watching a channel on some local station that wasn’t there an hour ago.. After about 15 minutes of this every thing went black No VCR No TV. Although the battery showed full and the lights worked fine. So we might as well go to bed.. We both slept well. when I first woke up as it seemed as it was beginning to get light out. Now we have a talking alarm clock hat you push the button and a voice comes on and tells you what time it is.. So I pushed the button and it said the time was 12:13 So as I lay there it seemed to be getting lighter and I pushed the button again an it again said 12:13 as I lay there thinking about what a weird time that was Midnight The bewitching hour and the unlucky 13. and so recalling the events of the night before. I woke my wife and told her to get up as we were leaving right now Now. I surly expected the truck not to start but it did and we polled out FAST!! The truck clock said 6 AM. Everything went well that day and when we camped the next night. every thing worked fine the TV VCR and get this the clock was right on the correct time.
Now all of the above is the honest truth and my wife LouAnn will attest to that, And she has only said Dam once in her life, but that is another story.

Lyndon ... it does sound like you entered some sort of twi-light zone! I've had days like that too ... nowhere near South Dakota, so I doubt it was anything related to Custer!

Hey, and I'm sure they'll forgive you, but we have several fiberglassrv.com members (and trailer owners) who are either decendents of, or married to, American Indians.

Lucky for us, they have a sense of humor! And your post was in the "Joke" section.

I think we all have to be mindful of that ... and other posts that could be misconstrued.

But, I did enjoy your post ... because I've had days where stuff goes wrong, for no apparent reason, only to work perfectly the next day!
