Stretched Limo's and capacity question
Talking with a buddy the other day about stretched limo's in Canada and the US.
Many of these vehicles are cut in half, pulled apart, and then modified/filled in by metal fabricators. It appears that 1,000's of pounds of weight is added to these vehicles obviously exceeding the payload ratings as stated in their respected manuals. Do they increase braking power? Beef up the suspension, axles, etc? Wondering if they get special approval from the authorities to licence, insure, and drive these vehicles on the highways.

They are vehicle manufacturerers and subject to DOT.Just as cutaways, and "cab&chassis"are sold only as incomplete vehicles and are not sold to the consumer market.
Of course, box delete pickups are an exception.

That's the Escape model due to come out in 2034. Actually, a stretch limo might be spacious enough to camp in, without a trailer!

All the people in the Limo will need to camp in that camper if there are enough bunks LOL

Somehow me thinks that the OP is trying to make a connection between Limousine MANUFACTURERS that, as mentioned above, are governed, at least in the U.S., by federal vehicle safety standards, and those those that independently modify vehicles to tow beyond manufacturers specifications.
As new limousines are already built to Federal specifications they don't need any special approvals.
However, many of the examples shown in the link are either "Customs" built primarily for show purposes, or are used on the road at the risk and peril of the owners, about the same risk and peril as one towing over manufacturers towing limits.

They build them in my home town. I am sure they have the capacities figured out.
