To a native Northwesterner, the majority sound like western Washington and
western Oregon!


The Pacific Northwest According To Jeff Foxworthy:

1. You know the state flower (Mildew).

2. You feel guilty throwing aluminum cans or paper in the trash.

3. Use the statement "sun break" and know what it means.

4. You know more than 10 ways to order coffee.

5. You know more people who own boats than air conditioners.

6. You feel overdressed wearing a suit to a nice restaurant.

7. You stand on a deserted corner in the rain waiting for the "Walk" signal.

8. You consider that if it has no snow or has not recently erupted, it is
not a real mountain.

9. You can taste the difference between Starbucks, Seattle's Best, and
Dutch Bros.

10. You know the difference between Chinook, Coho, and Sockeye Salmon.

11. You know how to pronounce Sequim, Puyallup, Issaquah, Oregon, Yakima,
and Willamette.

12. You consider swimming an indoor sport.

13. You can tell the difference between Japanese, Chinese and Thai food.

14. In winter, you go to work in the dark and come home in the dark-while
only working eight-hour days.

15. You never go camping without waterproof matches and a poncho.

16. You are not fazed by "Today's forecast: showers followed by rain," and
"Tomorrow's forecast: rain followed by showers."

17. You have no concept of humidity without precipitation.

18. You know that Boring is a town in Oregon and not just a state of mind. (I actually went to school with Bob Boring. The town was named after his grandfater Boring.)

19. You can point to at least two volcanoes, even if you cannot see through
the cloud cover.

20. You notice, "The mountain is out" when it is a pretty day and you can
actually see it.

21. You put on your shorts when the temperature gets above 50, but still
wear your hiking boots and parka.

22. You switch to your sandals when it gets about 60, but keep the socks on.

23. You have actually used your mountain bike on a mountain.

24. You think people who use umbrellas are either wimps or tourists.

25. You buy new sunglasses every year, because you cannot find the old ones
after such a long time.

26. You measure distance in hours.

27. You often switch from "heat" to "a/c" in the same day.

28. You design your kid's Halloween costume to fit under a raincoat.

29. You know all the important seasons: Almost Winter, Winter, Still
Raining (Spring), Road Construction (Summer), Deer & Elk Season (Fall).

I appreciate #17 and the lack of real humidity in the summer. In high school I accompanied Dean Boring a few times (yep, same Boring) when he sang. He became an opera singer and as his career took off he changed his name to Dean Wilder. Probably a smart move.

C'mon folks,
There is a lot of the Pacific Northwest which is East of the Cascades. How about that part of Oregon, and Idaho and Montana? There are hundreds of square miles of "high desert" country. Cattle country and "dry" farming land which far exceeds that of the "wet" coastal areas.
There has not been much mentioned about Puget Sound and the "desert" San Juan Islands . Some of the finest sailing areas of the world with a very mild climate due to the warm Japanese current.
Ferry rides can be be really fun, particularly for children. And how about the Southwest corner of Canada?
Maybe it's time the secret is out, and the inspiration to explore these other areas needs to be promoted.

In the summer, if it is hot for more than 3 days in a row, a marine layer of clouds move in and things cool off again. This is a place to visit if you like rain, otherwise don't bother, it really sucks up here.

Sounds like another disgusted Oregonian is checking in! Paul's correct, at least for this year...we are going to hit 200% of our average rainfall for January this year... plus or minus 11 inches of RAIN IN ONE MONTH. That's typically 1/3 of our ANNUAL rainfall

Number 24 is my favorite. Native Oregonians don't use umbrellas, because they always turn inside out! We can always tell a tourist or recent movein..cause they carry an umbrella True Oregonians, either allow themselves to get wet, or have hoods on their coats!

I strongly disagree with Paul!! The rain only lasts until July 5th or 6th, not the 15th. I've lived here for 26 years and I can't remember it lasting until the 15th. However, I agree with him in that it really does suck living here. That's why I've been here for 26 years

Truthfully we are really getting the rain this year. I flew home for a week from Honolulu and wanted to get out with the egg, It is just pouring. I believe this is day 46. So I go up and make a pot of coffee and sit in egg and wait. If it would just slow down a bit I would go out for a couple days
