This guy got caught in the bird netting around our tomatoes and spent the afternoon in direct sunlight.

We cut away the netting and freed him up then put him in the shade on the patio to see if he would recover. Lee even put a wet towel over him.

It was all to no avail, he croaked.

Let's see, snake stew, hat band or belt. Take your pick.

Nice of Lee to try though. Snakes rate right up there with mice as far as I'm concerned. I hope they ALL stay in someone else's yard!

That looks like a cousin of the snake that came in my bedroom window a few years back... We both "froze" when we saw each other. I wasn't takin' my eyes off him (her?) and s/he wasn't takin' hers/his off me. Finally the impasse was averted as s/he turned around and exited the room the same way s/he came in (beside a window unit air conditioner). It wasn't a viper, so I wasn't afraid of it, but neither did I want it loose in my house...
