This photo looks to have been faked in Photoshop, but in fact it's real - the V10 diesel VW Touareg did pull a 747, according to a VW UK press release.

The VW was modified by adding steel ballast to increase its weight from 2.5t to 7.0t (15,400lb) and fitting a lower rear end from a V8 model - though in fact the tow was done in low range second gear. The 747 had been modified for a film shoot with dummy engines instead of real ones and so weighed 'only' 155t (342,000lb) instead of the usual 170t.

They make absolutely no comment about what braking, load distribution or sway control equipment they used.........

With a recommended retail price of more than $105,000 US, it ought to be able to tow something! But, what I really want to know: What was the tongue weight?

Would 40 acres even be enough to turn that rig around
