13' Scamp wanted in MI 3-5k range

Looking for 13 foot Scamp with bunks in good condition...age doesn't matter as long as floor has no rot/soft spots and everything else decent condition. Ready to go for the right camper! This family is ready to camp this summer, and Mama wants out of the tent!

Thanks much!!!

Lisa, keep an eye on this site: Molded Fiberglass Trailers | Fiberglass RV's For Sale as well as Fiberglass RV's Sale area. The 13s go very fast, and if you want one, you need to jump on it as soon as it goes up for sale. It may be that you'll need to travel a outside of Michigan to find your little home on wheels But its out there! Good luck on the search.

Plus one! Also use Search Tempest to look in a radius from your home.

I've definitely been searching! Thanks for the links! Pam, I've definitely had my eye on Molded Fiberglass Trailers | Fiberglass RV's For Sale, thanks! Tom, wasn't familiar with the Search Tempest site. Saw a 13' in Michigan yesterday, but the strong smell of mildew led me to look under all the seats of which I discovered soft spots on all corners of the camper and moisture underneath the bunk seats. We would have to replace the floorboard, and that is too much work for us.

I know it is out there! Going to keep looking and appreciate anyone's help

If the rot is local, you can dry it out and firm it up with a thin resin like GitRot. This is within the average person's ability. Of course you need to fix the source of the leaks, but that is virtually a given with any camper.

What about the mildew? I wouldn't want to seal that up with resin.

You can dry out and clean mold and mildew from a trailer. Lots here have done it.

We are looking at both a 1996 13' Scamp and a 1978 Trillium 1300. Both are in the same price range. PROS and CONS??

You might want to post this in the "General Chat" area because more people will see it.

More to watch out for.....

In looking in that price range, especially at the lower end, you are sure to be looking at some older units. With that in mind, first learn all you can about axle sag common on many of the FGRV's with torsion axles. The 96 Scamp mentioned in post #10 looks good, but when the edge of the wheel rim starts getting even with the wheel cutout you may have a big expense in your future.
