Red face Casita 16

camper friends; I am close to ordering cosita 16. cosita office has no one for me to call to see one. I am in cannon falls mn. 30 miles south of minneapolis airport. I am concerned about interior height, 5'10". I am 5'7" , but wonder if I would feel cramped. thank you for your help.

cosita 16

Why a Casita16 over a Scamp16? Just curious!
(Casita17s are taller inside.)

You are fairly close to the Scamp factory in Backus (Mn) and the Scamp16 & Scamp13 both have a 6'3" interior height.

Yeah, I would assume he knows that, living in Minnesota and owning a Scamp 13.

thanks for the replys, the cosita 16 fits in my 7'10" garage door, even with the high lift suspension and tire upgrade, and front air cond. (but will have to let some air out of tires). the scamp 16 has air on roof and wont fit. my scamp has been great, but would like a little more room for my 2 month winter trips south.

Wish I could help you find one, because I do think it necessary to get inside a trailer for awhile before committing. But for reference, I'm 6'2", Casita lists the 17' as having a ceiling height of 6'1 & 1/2" and that seemed pretty close at a recent rally where I went into a lot of their 17' (those seemed pretty popular; don't recall a 16' on view). As for "feeling cramped," that'll be an individual thing, but for me, in getting into a lot of trailers and RVs, my first thoughts of "this is too close" all go away quickly if there's an inch or two.

When you get inside one, even if it's generally fine, pay attention to where fan controls, etc., protrude down from the ceiling. Although it sounds like there may not be much of that in your targeted model, it seems like stuff right where you stand from bed, lean over the stove, etc., could get old fast.

Hopefully someone up your way has a Casita and will say something. They do feel noticeably smaller inside, not just from the lower ceiling but also from the narrower aisle (due to deeper cabinetry).

Rallies are a great way to see trailers. There's one in Clear Lake IA this weekend, and another near Thomson IL next weekend, if you feel like hitting the road for a bit.

I always cringe when I see this claim, worried that someone might make a purchasing decision based on it. It might be 6'3" from floor to the shell at the highest spot, but there is less head room in the real world with the insulation and rat-fur (even when you push on it for that extra little bit). In my 16 Std with vinyl floor, the highest I see is 6' 1/4" with most of the center aisle ceiling at six feet even or less. And under the roof A/C (if you have it) the height is 5' 9 1/2" to 5' 9 3/4".

But that was measured with a tape measure and not a marketing tool.

I'm 5'8" and had no problem with the ceiling height of our Casita 16. Different story for my husband, who is a couple or three inches taller than I am (so we upgraded to Casita 17, and loved it for 16 years!)

could not find a cosita 16 to look at. so yesterday drove 4hrs to Bacus mn. to scamp factory where I bought the 13 3years ago. they had a 16 ft #7 layout to look at and I liked it as soon as I entered it. very roomy. I chose no air so it fits in garage. put deposit on one . have to wait 10 months! the higher tailight option is great, the bike will not block them. thanks for all input- Bob. (sorry about the foto)
