Egg on the east coast?

Hi! Looking to buy a small (13', 14') egg anywhere within a few hundred miles of Washington DC, asap. We're a couple in our late 20's looking to use one as a platform for some weekend adventures! Surf trips, ski trips, hiking, etc...

Thanks!
Zeke

Have you tried
Searchtempest
It will look for all craigslist & ebay ads that fit your responses ( ie zip code/ distance and ie scamp or casitas
Just be ware if scams and take the buyers document
Also have seller plug in frig
As they take awhile to cool
Good luck
The hunt is half the fun

Thanks for the tip alan! Will definitely use that site.

Not as excited about the hunt as actually using it, I'd even pay a finders fee for anyone that can find me something that I can go buy!

Zeke

Egg on the East Coast

I am toying with the thought of selling my all original 16 ft 1988 Scamp, floor plan 4. New tires, bearings packed, new battery, A/C with awning and LED lights. Ready to camp in. I am located in Trinity NC.

Can you send me an email to ezsilvani@gmail.com with some photos? It sounds pretty great.

Can a 16' scamp fit inside a standard garage?

Zeke, Welcome to the forum, sounds like your about to make some amazing memories! As to specifically wanting a trailer to fit in your garage you may have trouble getting even a 13ft in there due to the height. Especially if it has a rooftop A/C. Members here have gotten quite creative if stuffing their little eggs in standard garages but it usually involves removing wheels and putting on anything from tiny lawn mower wheels to wood blocks with casters etc and hand rolling them in b/c they are just too tall to fit. So check out your height restrictions before eliminating a 16ft trailer unless your tow vehicle also limits you to the lighter trailers.

Super helpful info... I hadn't even taken height into consideration! Where do you all usually store them if you don't want them sitting in the weather?

We have a storage unit conveniently located right across the street from us. I pay $65 a month to keep her nice and safe although I bet D.C. prices might not be so reasonable

No. A standard garage has a 7' door opening, and sometimes trim shaves off an inch or two. A Scamp 16 is about 7'10" tall without roof AC. Even a late model Scamp 13 (2007 and newer) is 7'6" tall. Older Scamps without roof AC (2006 and earlier) might fit with some modification: replacing stock road wheels with 8" wheels, with or without tires.

If garageability is a priority you might want to consider the Hunter Compacts and similar pop-top styles. If the suspension hasn't been raised, they should fit without modification.

Zeke,

Our Scamp 13 Deluxe is available near Annapolis. Nearly new and full of life. See our post in For Sale for pictures and info.
