Okay, for those of us who are new to trailering, what in the world is a "canned ham" trailer?

Small trailers that reminded owners of a canned ham in appearance.
As many FG campers are called "eggs."

Thanks, carlkeigley! I didn't figure that "googling" that term would yield results! Cute little things - though I'm happy to have my egg. :-)

"Canned Ham" also refers to the smaller trailers of the 50's that had a shape not unlike a canned picnic ham on it's side and they usually had minimal edge trim, looking all the world like it was in search of a giant can opener.

Ha! It would be fun to somehow attach a huge version of one of those old-fashioned canned-ham keys to a canned-ham trailer.

Loyce,
Do I see a quilted aluminum panel in your trailer? Did you install this? I want to put some above my kitchen counter wall. Where can I get some and who do I look for to install it?
Thank you,
Gilda

They can be decorated in many different ways. The ones on the Sisters on the Fly website are amazing and there are some eggs in the mix.

Hi Gilda, boy do I wish it was quilted aluminum but it's painted ceramic tiles. The paint is peeling and some tiles are broken. It's near the top of the list of things to remove and improve. :^(

Thank you!! I've been trying to figure out what that was called. I've been looking for it to cover the bathroom door of my scamp for my '50's diner redo. Time to measure and order.

How about plastic that looks like tin ceiling material?

Lowes and other big box stores carry different designs, even some that look like copper. Here's a sample: Shop Fasade 24-1/2-in Cross Hatch Silver Thermoplastic Multipurpose Backsplash at Lowes.com=

Question

Anyone been here? Starlite Campground in Colorado. Home

It sounds very cool. I only own FG, but I camp with vintage too.

WOW! I'll have to check that out! Especially Starlite"s`Tacy the 1957 New Moon!
I have stayed at The Shady Dell in Bisbee, Arizona some years back.
The previous owners had spaces available for people to use their own rigs, but the present owners closed that option.

Ah Donna, you are the bomb!!!!! That will be a perfect, lightweight solution to my ugly tile situation! Thank you.

Think I may have a solution for the battered '70s cabinets too. We have a store that sells odd cabinets and cupboards at a reasonable price. I can't get a 24" x 39" on through the 22" doorway but I can get
2- 18" units or 3- 12" units . Woohoo I have hated the cabinets in every 70s-80s camper I have ever owned. e
