Rent?

Is there a way to find a Casita, or Bigfoot, for rent? Would like to rent one for a week before buying.

Where are you located? There may be some one near you willing to rent. There are also a number of companies that rent Scamp style FGRV's

In Salem. I did find one Casita at https://rvshare.com/rv-rental/portland/or but wanted to find out if there are other options for rentals.

Others have asked about rentals in the past without a lot of luck, but this time may be different. Keep in mind that later Bigfoot trailers of all sizes are heavy and will require a higher towing capacity

And, anybody thinking of renting their trailer had best talk to their insurance company about coverage under those circumstances.

Which Salem? Oregon or Massachusetts?

Dang, just read your URL about Portland. Guess you've answered the question.

But then "lending" it for cash might be a different story altogether!
We would never lend or rent our trailer, and certainly would never ask permission to do so.

I've moved this over to the 'wanted' section of our market place ads.

There's a Boler owner, a few hours away, who's currently offering to rent his camper 350$ Can per weekend or 500$ Can per week. It's no use for the original request, but that shows that some people are willing. I have mixed feelings about it, but the insurance issue is certainly something to think about. The point is not to ask permission, Floyd, but who pays should "something" happen...

If you were to "loan" your trailer to a stranger, and if something went wrong, resulting in an injury, you can be assured that you would be sued. And, you can be assured that your insurance company would investigate thoroughly. I suspect the person suing you would say whatever was in their interest to say.

I would never rent my Scamp or loan it out.
It certainly is legal to lend my car, truck or utility trailer and still be covered by my insurance or that of the borrower. I have both borrowed and lent vehicles and trailers many times over the years. I guess you just need to know how to buy insurance or at least know where to get good advice on it.

My car dolly was gone from the house (borrowed) more than it was parked over a period of more than twenty years. Before that, I borrowed one when I needed it. My car trailer was lent often too, but my Scamp is too personal to lend.
Would you be afraid to lend a chainsaw? scaffolding? a lawnmower? how about a real SHARP pocket knife or a gas grille?
.
If you are not sure of your position, get sure, then act accordingly.

A little perspective...

Loaned my chainsaw to the neighbour. Went over to see how it was going and he was atop a six-foot step ladder, trying to cut a branch that was two feet over his head. Not sure how he expected to get out of the way when it fell, or what he planned to do with the chainsaw when the ladder tipped over.

Anyway, there is a huge difference between loaning a car and renting out a car, or trailer. Ask your agent.

No thanks, I will just continue to tell him what I want and pay him
only when he provides it.
Please take four minutes and Listen to the above video to get a little perspective on the point.
