Been looking at all sorts of fiberglass trailers, and we're flip flopping between a 17' Casita or Scamp or Escape....and then after seeing a few in person, felt it might be better to get a 19' with a bit more space. We were told by a seasoned RV'er that the Scamp 5th Wheel with its 13" tires will not be a good fit for our Sierra 1500 truck, it wont sit even. Anyone know about this? I looked on the Scamp info and it doesn't mention we can get an upgrade to a 15" tire like Casita does. Sorry, we're newbees so this is all foreign to us...we're reading a lot on the internet and talk to lots of folks. The more we learn, the more confusing it gets. LOL

You can get a 3" lift as an option on a Scamp 19. With the lift 14" tires and wheels are not a problem and I don't think 15" tires and wheels would be a problem either. If your Sierra 1500 is 2WD you should not have an issue but different model year trucks have different bed rail heights . To get a good answer to your question you need to place 600lb over rear truck axle and measure the height of your bed rail then you can compare it to a level Scamp 19. Too bad you are on the west coast I could put you into a real nice 2004 raised 19 Scamp.

Thanks for the replies. We called Scamp and Jim gave us a name of someone about 90 minutes away who just bought a Scamp 5.0 last year, so we'll head up there to see it in the next few weeks. We also called Escape and they gave us a reference also - someone just south of us, about 45 minutes away, and that is a 5.0 also. Can't wait to see both of them! Trying to read as much as possible to see what the big differences might be between the two fifth wheels (escape, scamp). Anyone know?
