Seeking 16 foot Scamp or similar around CA or close by - planning to full time May 1s

I'm looking for a 16' Scamp or similar fiberglass trailer under 2000 pounds. I will be towing with an SUV that is NOT a V6 so need something light. I'll be hitting the road full time starting May 1st 2019. I'll need something liveable and not a full remodel. Hoping to find something under 8k that has a shower and toilet and preferably a separate dining and bed area as I work online and do not want to have to breakdown my desk daily, so the Scamp floor plan #6 works best (meaning a small dinette I can work from and then a bed I can leave down). I will drive up to a day to get a trailer so anywhere within an 8 hour drive of southern california.

Thanks for reading!

Trailer Location:
California, Nevada, Arizona

A 16’ Scamp will weigh approximately 2400-2800# depending on options and loading. A 16’ Casita is a bit heavier. Under 2000# means a 13’ trailer, and even that will be close with the bath and other options. See my fuller reply in your other thread.

Thanks Jon, I may be looking at replacing my vehicle then. Will take to the mechanic, I've heard mine can be converted to a V6.

I think the Scamp 16 floorplan 6 is a very good choice. Realize the standard equipment on a Scamp is not much at all. This allows owners to go really light. But stuff you might think of as standard isn’t. Stuff like a refrigerator, furnace, air conditioner, hot water heater, powered vent fan, toilet, shower, cabinet over sink, those are all options.

Typically a used unit is going to have a lot of options included.

I think your budget is optimistic unless you are ok with an older unit with less features. Go to the fiberglass RV for sale website and look at the sold listings. Assume they sold for close to asking price.

Hi Amber - I also live in Ca, and have been looking for a 16-17' FG trailer, although I don't have any kind of time pressure as you do. But while I'll see a Scamp come up every few months, rarely does a week go by that I don't see a Casita. If you keep your search parameters wide, you'll find Trillium, Boler, Burro, U-Haul, etc. etc. as well. Best of luck to you.
