You need to put down a bit more info to get help. As your budget is on the low side, try these for starters:
1. What condition can you accept? $5k (or less?) will usually get an FGRV in need of a bit of work, a good clean-up and minor repairs. tires etc at the very least
2. Is Older OK? That price range usually dictates at least a 15-20 y.o., but it's condition not age that's important.
3. What features are a "Must Have"? a/c, bathroom, water heater, fixed bed, etc.
4. How many do you need to sleep
5. What will you be towing with.

Fill in the blanks and help will be at hand....

OK, I'll get a little more specific:
-As long as the trailer is road legal and can be used without major repairs, that's ok
-age doesn't matter.
-features usually included in a trailer stove, refer, hot water , water and holding tank) also AC kind of necessary as i will use it in FL , however, I could install AC if everything else is ok.
-this is for one person
-towing with Expedition

thanks for the help, any more questions or suggestions, please ask

I had a trailer in Va. that met your requirements until you mentioned the Expedition. Scamp 5er.

Just so you aren't disappointed in your hunt: Hot water is NOT common in 13' FGRV's and is often not found in 16's. Same for holding tanks. A common 13'er will have a water supply tank, but drains will go to outside buckets.
and
Adding a/c to many of the smaller units isn't all that easy as the roof is not designed to support the extra weight. Be sure to ask here before buying a specific unit if that is your intent.

BTW: DON'T take the sellers word for anything you don't know about, there are a lot of horror stories out there about "what the seller told me", always get a second opinion.
Are you following Craigslist.com and fiberglass-rv-4sale.com ?????

Nothing wrong with your Expedition but it sounds like the Scamp Eddie is selling is a 5th wheel which requires a pickup as a TV.

thanks for all the help. I'm still looking, really would like a fiberglass trailer for obvious reasons, but i'm time limited so i wonder what a good alternative would be to a leaky aluminum one?

Phil, I'd follow Pam's advice. Fiberglass trailers go very quick. Stay on top of the classifieds and also look in the paper and on Craigslist. When you find something, act fast.
