Jim,

Any 13 footer would be OK for you.

Do a search for "Element". You'll see.

Good luck!

Without looking at each tow models specs, it is hard to say how small a rig you could go with.

I suspect anything labeled , with a few exceptions, as an SUV, Mini Van, truck or Other (Element, Aztek, or other larger boxy thing that makes you ask "What WERE they thinking?") would do just fine with a 13 footer.

Given that, there are so many to chose from. What are your needs and wants as a passenger or driver outside of towing ability?

Hey Gina......

Well I did a Search of Element....This one I did not do before posting...

and was about to say what are you talking about when I read the above thread which had this posting.... I read on to find you were driving an Element.....

Sounds like you are the needle in the hay stack...

do you have any driving experiences with your Element and camper....did you make a good choice of camper?

Do you have a picture of your E with camper in tow?

With that I should also post that I am looking for a camper that fits the style of my rugged Element...Since i am breaking major wind......The shape of the Element....

I hope an Egg type trailer will tow just fine.....any thoughts on a 16 footer? or do you think it would be too much?

Thanks for your reply

Jim

just finished reading for the last hour plus...

on using the search functions....I first used newer second time older..and bamm...lots of posts.......it defaults to newer so I did not get much in regards to posts...
the second time turned in a greater response.

I still think the Cadet 13 model is pretty cool..it will be for just two people...myself and my 12 year old son...there is a guy back east that has one for 2500.. outside is fine inside is all in pieces...he said for 5000.00 he could re do the interior to my specifications thats 5000.00 total not including getting the camper out to me....but the interior would be brand spanking new with what ever colors and toys I wanted....he has his own RV center.

I have been told the cadet is at 650 lbs.....dont know if this is correct....I am sure with more stuff inside it will go up the scale I like the fact that it has a front compartment to house the propane tanks and battery...

Ordered my U-haul class III hitch which will include a trailer harness hook up 167 total

will also ask about a tranny cooler when I go in to have it installed...

thanks again...

Jim

Jim, we are using a 2003 Element (gray/black, identical to your picture) to tow our 13' Scamps, and it works just fine. We only lose about 3-5 mpg. when towing.

I am at the Oregon Gathering right now. Out of 110 trailers here, two are tugged by Elements. A 13ft Boler, and a Scamp.

(I am not in my trailer, or that would make 3)

There are several more on the boards with Es, and many more NOT on the board towing pop ups and misc. Other camping things. Go to the Element owners club and look in the towing forums.

Before the trailer was painted:

For me, YES. For you, with a child, maybe not. What is right for one, is not for others.

Weight to tow ability.. yep, but at the limit.

Nice

what color did you paint your camper?

I am rethinking my decision to maybe go up to the scamp or burro........looks like it will be a interesting ride to try and get my hands on one........

Will keep my options open and my wallet handy.....

If you have another picture of the camper with the new paint....

and since you are at the gathering with all those other campers.....any leads would be great............

Thanks

Jim
