wtb in alaska

I am looking at a 2008 scamp in Alaska. Owners are asking 11,000 for it. It is in great shape, bunks in front and double bed in back. I know everything costs more in Alaska... Does that seem reasonable?

I bought a 2008 13' Scamp/full bath, furnace, hot water heater, screen door, fridge in 2010 for $11000. I added A/C and have had it out about a dozen times. Love it, but am looking for a used Escape 15B with A/C. If I find one, I am going to list Scamp for $9500. I think $11K is a wee bit high for a 2008 Scamp with no bath or A/C. But, that is only my opinion. My opinion and $1 won't even buy you a cup of Starbucks coffee.

Buying in Alaska

It's been years since I've been to Alaska . I hope to get up there in 2015. Taking my trailer will be expensive, time consuming and FUN . If you have the time and inclination you might be able to buy in the lower 48 and save enough to pay for the trip and have some fun along the way. You could also travel a long distance and find a trailer that did not meet your expectations. I have Alaska friends that have come to Washington and Oregon to buy things ( a portable sawmill and a Ford tractor ) that just were not available in Alaska and found what they wanted here, but you never know what you will find if you are looking at anything "used".

Hopefully others will be able to put a fair market value on this trailer.
Some things do cost more in Alaska and I'm thinking selection will be more limited so if you really like this trailer and feel the price is too high you could make an offer. Considering mid August is the end of summer where you are , the seller might be motivated.

Good luck with your search.

Jack

Even for AK, where I am at, I think that's pretty high. Early in the summer one was listed on craigs for a while without selling at 10k. Being August, you've definitely got some bargaining room. Good luck!
