Question '78 Trillium 4500 replacement water tank

Google's letting me down in my search for a new water tank.

The PO of my '78 Trillium 4500 put a large (4x6) rectangular hole in the water tank in order to.... Who knows? Sure beats me. Maybe he figured he'd make a nice hole to scrub the inside clean and forgot that the water would come out the hole?

There was a very badly attempted, leaky repair which I have removed. The repair was some sort of plastic sheet screwed on, over the hole and then "sealed" with silicone. The repair probably leaked worse than the hole.

Anyway, I'm 99% sure the tank material is the dreaded LDPE, which seems not to be (according to my research) patchable.

Does anybody have ideas for a source for a new tank? It's kind of an odd shape, but not terribly. It's essentially a long flat box shape, but it tapers from 6 inches high at the front to 4 inches high at the rear. My calculations put it at 13 gallons. It goes under the floor, beneath the dinette table.

If it is LDPE, it is "weldable". See if there are any plastic tank fabricators in your area.

How about enlarging the hole and installing a deck plate? Raz

That is an awesome suggestion! I hadn't considered that, but, now that I think about it... Nerts! The hole is too close to the edge. Actually, I believe (I'm not looking at it right now) the hole includes the edge and maybe even a little bit of the adjoining side (this is where an attached picture would be sweet ).

I'm pretty sure I really need to find a replacement tank. I'm starting to think I'll need to get a different (available) tank and locate it somewhere else, like under one of the benches. I hate to lose the storage and waste the space where the old tank was, though.

I'm not having any luck finding tank fabricators around Meadville, PA. Are there some other search terms I should be trying?

Check local marina's (you are not far from Lake Erie) RV places and places that supply those agricultural tanks, I see a lot of them out your way. Somebody has to know who welds plastic in the area. I googled plastics from google maps of Meadville and found a lot of places. Seek and Ye shall find.

The tank in our 2010 Trillium was made by Inca Plastics. It sounds like the same shape and since our 1300 was made from the same molds as the original, it most likely is. Was the water tank the same in the 4500? Nothing useful on the web site but contact info. Good luck, Raz
