There is a piano hinge on the foam side. The wing and back panel is held tight together to keep the wing from folding backwards. Kind of like a door without a doorstop. It is not made to support a lot weight on the end wings. The glued foam also helps keep it from folding backwards.

I just found a pic in the scamp gallery several pages back that showed a restoration in progress. The wings on the ends of the plywood back/top bunk are held on with piano hinges as I had suspected, sandwiched between the foam and the plywood. That way they can only fold flat when in bunk mode.

I appreciate all of the help from everyone. I now am armed with all of the info I need to get this job done.

I have like new plaid cushion covers from a 16 ft. Scamp for rear dinette area and sided dinette. They are red white and blue. Asking $150.00 for the set. All zippers work fine and come from a non smoking environment.

Golly-
I happen to have a front bunk, cushion, and banana cushion I don't need. If you were to swing up to Michigan, I could really set you up...
The cushions are brand new- slept on once. Upholstered in medium dark blue...
You could check out My '76 Scamp Rehab on this forum to see the color...

Bill and Robin (the OPs) haven't been around for a while: Last Activity: 03-06-2015 04:23 AM, but if someone else needs what you've got... you have it covered!
