Lee, you can still purchase a gravel guard (and hardware) from Scamp. I did. Just be aware, it's a piece of FLAT fiberglass. Under tow the wind bends the fiberglass to the shape of the window. I think only those that buy at the time of new manufacturer actually get a curved gravel guard... and I can't be certain about that.

If I was to do it over, I'd purchase stainless steel hardware. But, I keep what I've got waxed and after 7-8 years haven't seen a sign of rust. There's plenty of threads where folks are asking about how to get the rust off the gelcoat from rusty hardware.

Best of luck

Thanks as of now we have nothing. Our camper we just bought is 30 yrs old and we are trying to slow down on spending so much money on it now. Jo

We have an older scamp and the gravel guard blew off going over the Chesapeake bridge tunnel! We made one out of a sceen door guard and it works great. Lets light in and we don't need to take it off but can if we need to.

Because it's just a flat piece of fiberglass, see if you can find a home fiberglass shower surround for FREE through Craigslist or check with home remodelers that are taking junk to the dump. You can make your own pretty easily.

Gravel shield

Donna, Can you tell me more or show me pictures of your home made shield. Sounds like a winner to us. Thanks so much Jo

Jo, mine is not home made, I bought it from Scamp. But it's the same shape as the window. You could make a cardboard pattern by tracing the window (on the outside of the rubber), then trace that pattern on a flat piece of fiberglass. Perhaps trim it with Trim-Lok or something else you like and hang it with hardware that you buy locally (same stuff as Scamp).

OR, if you're replacing the front plexi with new plexi, use the old plexi as your gravel guard... paint it?
