Wanted: Uhaul Rock Guard

Recently got my hands on an '85 Uhaul CT-13. Everything currently on it is original although it is missing a few things most noticeably the rock guard for the front window. If anyone has one they are thinking of selling I'd love to hear from you.

Is it missing or there never was one, as not all Uhauls had them. Best bet is to buy one from Scamp and adapt it. I know of only one Uhaul that suffered a broken front window while towing.

rock guard

First Post! My father picked up a 1984 13' this weekend. It did not have a rock guard and I looked for signs of one having been installed. No holes or anything. We did pull the trailer about 100 miles and I noticed the front glass was bowed inward. Without highjacking your thread, is this normal? we were curious about the rock guard as a way of keeping direct wind off the glass.
Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff, glass bowed in is not normal. Maybe it's been replaced with a thin plexiglass. For your info, the front and rear windows can be replaced by a Scamp rear window by slightly widening the opening. Expect water leaks in the side windows and around the marker lights.

Windows

After closer inspection I don't believe mine had a rock guard. I've seen photos of them and figured I'd see if one was available. Thanks for the info Mary and Bob!

Jeff, I just got an '85 in NH this past weekend. Best of luck with your Uhaul. Interested to see more info/insight on your window.

gonna try to post a pic.....you can see the way the light is reflecting off the front glass, it is not flat. This gal has been sitting for some time now. I have been driving past weekly for 3 years, leaving notes, inquiring about purchasing. The owner finally called and offered it to us first. No holes were a rock guard had been installed. Looking forward to my dad having fun once we get her cleaned up!

Jeff; maybe the window warped from heat, direct exposure to the sun ? That front window is really stuck in, not sure what they used for sealer or glue, but on ours it was set up and stiff. I did not remove ours.

Is the glass true"glass" or plexi, lean type material from the factory?

Ours appears to be true glass, but in a 30 year old trailer you never know what may have been done to it.
