Bill, you may have already but have you checked on Ebay? I've scored a few times there.

At one time they had a repair kit. Dusty one on a shelf from eBay maybe. Also they used 2 different brands of door locks on the bolers

I've seen them from time to time at prices all the way up to $550-$600.

I'd much rather do some work on the door so it could fit a readily available latch/lock in the $20-$30 range, but that's just me.

Thanks RBryan!
Yes I did find the $550 version of the Bargman door mechanism-- lucky (sort of) me; mine is a Lyster brand--still looking wherever; was hoping to maybe find a rig that has been deteriorating beyond repair....except the door!!!!
I will pay something for one--not $550...and of course not $2.50! Something reasonable, knowing that it will make my rig a little more alive again!
thanks,
bill

Old NOS parts can sure get expensive. Might be an idea to change it out to something that's more common on the market today. YMMV as I'm not one to necessarily keep things original .

Take a look at the inside mechanism. Sometimes it is easy enough to fabricate new small metal bits that might have broken or gotten worn.

An old fashioned, skilled locksmith might also be able to get it working again. Being a mechanically inclined person who can use files, saws, grinders, lathes, etc. I was able to repair the vintage door lock on my 1980 Sunrader and get it to working again.
