Annoying "Remember Me" pop-up

So, what's up with that most annoying pop-up thing next to the sign-in boxes. Every time you get your mouse anywhere near this "remember me" thing it pops up with a picture of somebody I don't know and could care less about. This has got to be the single most annoying feature of this site. Please make it go away, or at least make it something we can toggle off.
Very annoying...

Don't know what it is, but you might try Adblock Plus if you don't already have it. I see nothing like you're describing, I use Chrome with the Adblock add on.

I can't reproduce it, Greg. Am I correct that you refer to the "Remember Me" box that displays next to the login/password boxes? Or is it something different?

I too logged out for the first time in months, then logged back in to see if I could reproduce it. No go, everything went fine for me. Seeing this is the first reported case this happening, so I would suspect something with the OP's computer. Try deleting cache and cookies, or try another browser?

I haven't had an issue with that, either. Maybe the "Troll in Charge of Annoying" picked your number this month?

Have you tried running malwarebytes. It gets rid of things that your antivirus wont and its free. I was having problems several years ago with an unwanted software on my computer. I googled what the message said and quite a few people suggested malwarebytes. I downloaded the free version and it took care of the problem.

Check your browser toolbars for the ask toolbar. If you have it , do what Lee suggested , run malawarebytes(best damn program out there). If you have loaded or updated Java recently, then you may have also loaded that Ask toolbar and some other programs as well. One thing you can also try is run system restore to roll your computer back to a previous date to get rid of the programs if you know when it started. Just google system restore to find out how to do it.

I think what he means is that daily email signup. Just hit the X in the top right hand corner and carry on. Most of us are here every day and don't need an email to say there are new messages.

Have to assume the OP's computer needs adjustment - I've never had the 'problem' he alludes too.

I am on here almost every day, and sometimes a few times a day. Since the newsletter started, I have only seen it twice now. It is only seen with you sign in, and as like most folks, I never actually log out, just close the page, and it automatically signs me back in when I visit again.

It only appears until I log in. It is immediately to the right of the log-in boxes in the upper right corner of the forum page. It does go away once I am logged in. I generally do log in, but if you get your mouse anywhere near this thing during that process, it pops up. Very annoying feature until you are finally logged on.

As mentioned Greg, this is not a feature of the site. It seems like something is amiss on your end, as nobody else can recreate it. Have you cleaned out your cache and cookies, or tried another browser? Or as others mentioned, run a malware software.

My wife had an annoying thing with using Firefox, in that the screen froze unless she kept the mouse moving. Removing and reloading Firefox did nothing, either did removing all the cookies and cache, but after I ran Malwarebytes and rebooting, this annoying issue went away. I earned brownie points with this.

Thanks Jim. I ran Malwarebytes and whatever it was, is now gone. Must have been something my computer ate...
