Any chance of getting new post feature?

I really like the feature on the Escape forum that takes you straight to new posts (you haven't read) in any thread you choose. Any chance of getting that here?

We already have it.
Click on "New Posts" in the blue banner between Calendar" and "Search"
That will take you a list of threads that have new posts in them.
Don't click on the Title of the thread, but on the Down-pointing arrow to the left of the Title, and you're at the first new post since your last log-on.

Thanks Frederick, guess I didn't look hard enough I had been to new posts but didn't see that part. I also see I can go straight to a post and click 'first unread' at top left and it takes me there also.
Perfect!

It's not working for me. It shows topics with new posts, but when you click on the topic it takes you to the first post in that thread. Then you have to click on first unread post.

On the Escape Forum I look at topics on the right side of the screen and when I click on one, it automatically takes me to the first unread in that thread.

You don't click on the topic; you click on just the down-arrow to the left of the Topic.

If you click on the title, it opens to the first post, but if you click on this icon in front of the title, it takes you to the first unread post.

Or, maybe it is something else then.

Thanks. I see that that works. But, I prefer the way it works at Escape Forum. I can read the titles of all the recent threads and just click on the topic. It's a cleaner screen than New Posts and I don't have to be so precise with the cursor.

But, I guess I can change, if I have to...

baglo, not sure what you are referring too. Both layouts are pretty much the same for me.

On the Escape forum, when I click on New Posts, and then on the title, it takes me to the first post in the thread. I have to click on this icon to open the first new post in the thread.

edit: I think I figured out what you are talking about. The menu of new threads on the right works different in the two forums. In the Escape forum, it takes you to the first unread post. In this forum, it opens the first post in the thread. I wonder if that is something an admin can change.

I just never used that list of threads for new posts before is all.

I don't use New Posts on the Escape forum. The list of recent topics is on the right of the main page. Those that I've not read are in bold. When I click on a bold topic, I instantly go to the first unread post in that thread.
On FGRV if I do that, it takes me to the first post and I have to click on the button for first unread. I can use New Posts, but...
The Escape Forum is cleaner in my opinion.
And, back to FGRV, what's indicated by the color of the envelope under New Posts? Some are red and some are gold. I don't see a key to indicate what the color means.

I don't know the significance of the envelopes, maybe someone could enlighten us. The have them on the Escape site too, they just look different. I know some indicated locked threads, some tell you how many posts you have in the thread if you hover your mouse over it, but not sure of the rest. Maybe there is a legend somewhere.

I use the classic skin here on FiberglassRV. The legend is at the bottom of every main forum page.

Oh man, I knew I had seen it somewhere. I went to the vBulletin forum, and read it wrong. I went to the main page looking for it, not to the individual forum pages, where it most definitely is....on every last one of them. Thanks once again, Donna.

I too use the Classic Style, though I do like the clean look of the newer style. I just like to differential the look from all the other vBulletin sites.

FWIW, it's also at the bottom of the "new" (FGRV 2.0) skin as well, on the pages that use the envelope icons next to the topic titles.

There is also a way to set up your personal options so that when you open up a Thread it takes you to the newest entry first.

At the top go to "User CP" & choose "Settings & Options" and then "Edit Options". Scroll down to the "Thread Display Modes" section and change the drop down menu to "Liner - Newest First".

I tried that Carol. That is too weird for me, trying to get my head wrapped around going backwards. You'd think I would be good with that.

Plus, it goes to the last post, not the first new post in the thread.

Agreed. Not a solution. But there is one that was implemented on Escape Forum, with the same platform.
