Not sure which forum is appropriate for my questions...

Dear Moderators and Administrators:

I'm new to this community and yet void of 'wheels' to tow, but learning/looking. As I embark in this new topic many questions come to mind, but after 'searching' current forums and threads I still would like to post some specific questions. My issue is that I'm not sure exactly which forum/thread would be appropriate for my questions.

The ones that come to mind at the moment are these:
1. Ease of use of Porta Potti (the do's and dont's), is it as nasty as we imagine?
2. Scamp vs. Casita - which one is best (pros and cons)
3. How to learn to determine tongue weight, weight distribution, sway bars.
4. Guidance in purchasing a unit.

I know this information should have been covered already in this community but sometimes is not as easy to find as one would like, so I was hoping to post some of my questions and wanted to make sure I placed them in the right forum.

Thanks in advanced.

Luis, your best friend is the Google search feature. It's only available on the website, not the app. To use it, go to the blue bar at the very top (under your log-in information). Choose "Search" and scroll all the way down to the Google site search at the bottom. It will pull up everything on this site related to your search query and does a good job of sorting by relevance.

And you're right- there's a ton of good information out there on everything you mentioned!

Browsing the different forums will give you a feel for what kinds of questions belong where, but don't fret too much- no one has been kicked out yet for posting in the "wrong" category. A moderator can move a thread to a different category if needed.

Easy enough

Thanks Jon!

Yep, found the google search feature and will start using it.

I navigate thesamba (VW) and I have learned to research subjects before posting as some people become annoyed quite easily .

Although this community seems a bit more relaxed it is good measure to consider others. That applies to pretty much anything in life, right!

Thanks again.

We have a couple of those here as well. But they're usually the kind of crusty old codgers you want for accurate information on technical questions, so we love them, too!

The only things that annoys me is when people are unkind, want to talk about some other build-type other than all molded towables... and SILICONE on the exterior. I'm good with just about everything else, even if you drink crappy commercial beer and want to talk about it

Be kind, be helpful and pay it forward

The question about silicone has been moved to the "Care and Feeding" forum, as Why not silicone?.

How to change username? Was very excited, when came across this site. Found my the fiberglass rv I was going to purchase ~1976 boler, hence the name rocknboler. Well, deal fell through (Who knew someone, would try to make a buck, pulling an old boler out of a field where mice had their way with it for years) Now am proud owner of 1996 Scamp I am rebuilding. Need to change name to rocknscamp (if not already taken). Earth Science teacher with what my students would say might be an unhealthy attachment to all things rock. Thanks for any help you can give securing a more appropriate name.

And when you sell the Scamp and buy an Escape will you want to change your name again?

I'm a moderator on another site and we will change a name only once and to a name that does not depend on what you own.

Enjoy,

Perry

It's fixed now, Ed. Thanks for the heads up. (I think it's something a moderator must do... and so, I did!)

We don't have that kind of prohibition (yet). As long as it's not excessive, we try to accomodate this kind of request... when it's made (which this one has not as yet been).

Is there a way to "imbed" my photos in a post? If I want to do a tutorial on how to install/fix something, I'd want to have some instructions, then a photo of what I'm talking about, then more instructions, then a photo.

It doesn't seem like there's a way to do that, other than hosting the photos on another site first.

They all just show up at the bottom of the post.

Yes, there is. After you go to "Manage Attachments" and upload up to four images, return to your post. Put your cursor anywhere in the text, then click the paperclip icon and choose the picture you want. An attachment will pop up in your post.

You can even return to "Manage Attachments" and upload and insert more pictures in the same post. There is an upper limit, I think either 8 or 10.

It's always a good idea to use "Preview" before you "Submit" so you can verify that it looks like you want.

Here's what it looks like (see post #4): New-to-me Scamp...couple of questions
