I had a message from Gina this afternoon. She is fine. Thanks for your concern; that fire looks (is) wicked...

Thank you for the concern. I am fine and safe, I am actually at the Oregon Gathering. (It was a stealth trip, long story )

The fire is on the other side of the mountian from my home and is no threat to me at this time.

However, it is a concern for Kurt and Anne K, who, fortunately, are also here and safe. They live near the burn area. I was very happy to see them here, and sad to tell them of the news. So far, the fire has not been a direct threat to thier home, tho it is close, as the crow flies.

The campground I left my trailer in for the 4th is directly threatened and has been evacuated. The fire has now crept into that wilderness area, and will be very difficult to stop due to the amount of dead trees there.

It will be a very sad sad day if that area is destroyed. It is truely the only forested wilderness left in so. cal.

Cross fingers, pray, hope or whatever it is you do for the safety of Kurts home.

Thanks.

The fire is almost at the top of the ridge you see here (Taken two weeks ago from my campsite in the San Gorgornio wilderness)

The brown trees you see are obviously dead and dried to tinderbox dry. (Bark Beetle infestation) Once the fire hits here and into those trees, it will be impossible to stop.

This fire is already larger than the one in 2003, however, since it is wilderness, not nearly as many homes would (or have been) lost.

Fire is pretty much contained, the campground was not hurt, and Kurt and Anns neighborhood was never touched.

Lucky us!

Thanks for the concern.

I am so happy that everyone, everywhere, and everything, is alright. That is such a relief.
It is amazing that the beetle infested part didn't go up in flames, from a stray spark.
Real wilderness is hard to come by anymore, but to lose one's home to a fire, is like losing one of your kith and kin. (BTDT, I pray never again, )
I think that we were all pulling, and praying for y'all. I hope it didn't put too much of a cloud over the Oregon Gathering. I am sure it was a great campout.
